So been thinking, funds not great...so next move,

So I would like to go for some mocs moving forwards, but hey will be lower end, due to funds constraint

ROTJ is my bag, what are the low end prices for yellowed, dented, dare I say it even reseals

I don't mind reseal if its genuine, not looking to buy now but just a basic idea on price

For example an ROTJ Vader MOC damaged bubble are we talking £100 s still?

I know tis is a bit random, and I am trawling around the net to try and get some ideas

So any advice would be welcomed gents

In my experience you can find nice yellow bubble MOCs for faaaar less than 100GBP. Around 20-30 gbp should be sufficient to get some starter mocs of some of the less popular characters.

As for Vader, theres a Vader Moc Rotj thats been owned by half the forum by now, should be known as the "Forum Whore Vader", and its been changing hands for less than 100gbp. Nice card, no issues with the bubble, at least it was rather dent free the time I owned it.

Made In Mexico clear bubble Vaders can go for 50 pounds.
I've almost completed a cheap ROTJ MOC run- many yellow bubbles, some cracked bubbles, creased cards, sticker tears etc. It has been fun but if I could do it over again I wouldn't. I'd go for a handful of quality/ mint MOCs.

Only just started collecting myself, but I bought my Pruneface for less than £20. Bubble is quite yellow but that's the only fault with it.

You know you can pick up lower end condition Moc's for really cheap prices and you can make certain runs with them. But however cheap Moc, will stay cheap moc's.

In my opnion some quality mint Moc's even if you only go for those you really like, may cost more but will be a better investment in the long run (at least i hope). So you can buy 5-6 cheaper moc's, or save up and 1 buy one mintier example... it's your choice and do as you prefer.

I also don't have many Moc's, but i enjoy them because they display nice and it still did not cost me an arm and a leg.

There are very few figures on ROTJ cards that you can't get for under £30 with patience. The vast majority can be picked up for £20-£40 pretty easily. Steer clear of buy it now prices on eBay and keep an eye on the open auctions. You don't need to go for reseals or bad conditioned ones, but clear bubbles will command a premium.

But however cheap Moc, will stay cheap moc's.

That's a very good point - don't buy common or poor condition MOCs as an investment. They will more than likely hold their value, but only high end stuff is investment material these days. The average price of MOCs hasn't changed much in the last decade.

Hi Mike, if I was you I would not buy reseals unless you want some very rare cards. You can get many of the ROTJ kenner moc between £15 and £30 even a few tri-logo moc, ESB and SW moc. Good luck with the hunt :wink:

I agree with what most people are saying, the common stuff hasn't increased in price over the years and likely won't. The earliest stuff (12 backs) and the final wave (POTF) have always been the priciest Kenner carded figures and always will be.

A Trilogo collection is always an option but the downside is it's pretty impossible to complete because of 3-4 figures that are usually out of most peoples comfort zone price wise, which could be frustrating. However, I firmly believe that it is still one of the most rewarding sets to try and go after because you can get bargains with patience and there are so many to collect (Clear bubbles are a plus too)

If you just want a handful of carded for display why not just mix it up and get some cheap Kenner ROTJ, a few Trilogos and maybe one or two more expensive figures. I have never owned a 12 back as I never really felt any connection to them (Kinda Jedi and beyond era child me) but I think it would be cool to have one in my collection one day just to see what the fuss is all about.

Yes Joe raises a good point, there are plenty of exceptions to the rules. for example a ROTJ Madine is worth £20 and a tri logo is worth £5,000, or a ROTJ Leia is worth more than a 12 back. Buying a variety of cardbacks rather than focusing on one type and picking up the cheapest is a good way to start, that's what I did for years.

Yep there definitely are exceptions to the rules as you proved with the Leia example, it gets even worse if you go after foreign as well. Try even finding a Spanish PBP Luke Jedi or R2 D2 let alone being able to afford them! Whereas a Kenner or a Trilogo version of the same figure would be pretty cheap in comparison.

On the other hand you can pick up a German ESB Ben Kenobi cheaper than a nice Kenner ROTJ or ESB one. Arghh!! :lol:

Ive recently started collecting again and have bought a handful of jedi and trilogo carded figures over the last month or so for around £20 each, not mint but look good in the collection.
I personally would rather have quantity over quality but that is also due to my avalible funds for all things star wars . Although I am already noticing myself eyeing up the slightly more pricier moc's :lol:
