Or did some have regular kenner in aswell?

So did a regular kenner Biker Scout ever come on MIM or was it just the short mouth LL BS with dark grey blaster

*MIM (made in mexico)

I would have thought if it was regular Kenner then it would always be made in China or HK? What I mean is you wouldn't stick a made in China figure on a MIM card.

So all kenner mim mocs have ledy figures in.

I was wondering because i read the somewhere the made in spain kenner cards do not have pbp figures inside

I'd have bet my house on it although now you say about the MIS/PBP matter I'm not so sure!

I guess the other thing that clouds the issue is that with the BIker Scout, for example, it's possible to find a MIM card with the LL figure-correct dark grey LL blaster OR with the lighter grey Kenner blaster. I guess you could therefore argue that product was being mixed up at that stage so why not figures, too?

I had always believed that MIM cards and figures were packaged in Mexico. Mainly because of the small hole in the back of the card behind he figure: they wouldn't do that in the US otherwise why not do that for all MOCs packaged there and there's no evidence of regular Kenner MOCs having that hole, only MIM. In my assumption they'd been packaged in Mexico I believed they'd only be packaging their own figures not Far East ones.

Hadn't considered this all before so great question, Chris. Guess we'll have to wait for someone with actual knowledge to come along and answer it!

I understood that all MIMs were Ledy but the accessories can be either Kenner or Ledy. From experience all the MIM MOCs I own have Ledy accessories as far as I can tell.

As a side note there are some MIM MOCs that have subsequently had an Anakin offer sticker applied to the back and front (in the US?) which covers the hole made during production.

I love the MIM run (and I only need one more).

Tri Logo Paploo - Made in Mexico example.

From this we could presume the figures were "made in Mexico" and could be packaged anywhere.

My feeling is that Paploo and Lumat are the exception: they appeared first on ROTJ 79 back cards, hence the discrepancy between "last 17" here and "last 15" in the US. With sales on the decline I should think the decision to have these two just made at one factory (Mexico) was made. It does show, however, in principle, that the MIM figures travelled outside of Mexico for packing so they could have easily been sent to Kenner but I would suggest not, mainly due to the holes in the back: Kenner packed figures didn't have the holes nor Trilogos whether they were MIM or not. Only the MIM figures on the Kenner cards had the holes. This must have been a regional/factory peculiarity. If only some paperwork existed somewhere to explain the reasons.

The Canadian Paploo & Lumat MIM ROTJ 77 backs also have the holes in the cardboard. This might suggest that they were package at the same factory. They are also the only 2 ROTJ 77 backs with bar codes, the rest are just white squares. They are also the only 2 Canadian cards that have MIM on them.

And there I was beginning to think we were getting close to the truth and you messed it all up, Clint

So, if the theory that the holes were only being put in the cardbacks of the MIM figures in Mexicn factories, then this means the Canadian cards were being assembled in Mexico. Is that likely? Where were the Canadian items packaged normally? I should imagine if they were shipping figures to the UK for packing then they would have also shipped figures to wherever the Canadian items were packaged. But then there's the holes in the cards on the Canadian examples.

Sounds like back to square one, chaps :D

I would think that they are all assembled in Mexico using the same process at both factories.

I'm not sure where the Canadian stuff was normally packaged. It very well may have arrived in Toronto already boxed & carded, and then distributed from there?

Canadian cards are still Kenner cards. It is the company organising distribution, not the country. If MIM US Kenner cards were packaged in Mexico I see no reason why MIM Canadian Kenner cards would not also be produced in the same place. In fact it seems silly for a company to get them packaged elsewhere on the grounds that they will be sold an extra few yards over the border.

MIM Tri Logo would be dealt with by a totally different European companies who will have their own separate specs of packaging and distribution.
