Deltof Lights

Are these safe to use for your collectables?

Similar scenario for me, I was looking at the strip ones though: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00119419/

I've read a few tutorials online showing how to fit them to a Detolf and we've got a set illumnating my other half's Disney collection on Expedit book case! (Our house is pretty much an Ikea showroom.)

As they are LED they won't give off heat at least so I can't see it being an issue. But would love some confirmation too!

I just put push lights in mine which are battery powered and cost about a quid but I have seen the ones you linked to Grant being touted as good lights for Detolf cases.

From what I have read though unless you are pretty handy you can end up with a really ugly mess of wires in and around your case so if you are going with this option make sure you have the skills to make it look good!

Mmm..... I don't have those skills.

Took 1 and half hours to put my first Deltof together on the weekend- but only 45 mins for the second.

I thought they would just slit into those little holes. Well- I let you know when I buy them, which means another trip to IKEA (aka-Dawn of the Dead) :?

I use the LED Strip "color changing" version along the top of my entertainment unit. They come in handy when it's time to get down a boogie! 8)

I've always been afraid of using lights with my collection. Having said that, those 4 way strips do look good. I look forward to seeing what you come up with Grant. This could start getting expensive for me
PS I love those helmets Jedi, they look sweet

I wouldn't worry too much Jez, unless you were to have the lights on 24/7 all year long you haven't got much to worry about.

Ask yourself how many times you have the normal light on (and for how long) in your collection room a week and you will probably see that your collection isn't being exposed to light for extended periods of time. Natural light is the killer, bulbs just contribute (think of stuff that loses its colour sitting in shop windows for years on end yet the stuff inside the shop still looks ok)
