Evening all, not been around much recently, but just wondered if anyone has experienced this before.

I have just come to pay for a couple of items I have bought from a guy in the States off ebay and paypal are adding 20% custom charge onto the items?????

Never had this happe .before and not comfortable paying over £100 to paypal ,and then get stung again when they land this side of the pond, because I am sure paypal will do **** all to help you out....

Any thoughts or comments appreciated, needless to say I haven't paid yet

Never heard of that before - only time I have seen additional fees added are when I have bought something from the states and then tried to ship it to Todd, apparently there are charges between certain States in the US

The seller is pretty new and has a low feedback score, but it is 100%...

Surely the fees are payable to HM customs, not paypal??? I have mailed the seller to see what he says, not his fault as far as I can tell, but bit of a shitter. If he doesn't know I'll contact PayPal myself...

Not heard of anything like that before. LMK what the outcome is.

I'm with you on being reluctant to pay the money to PP, you know rightly HMRC will sting you again and PP will sit back and do sweet FA, net result you're out the money twice and PP hold on to it for weeks.

Hmmm i would think he has most likely added these himself, there is no way paypal can take over HMRC charges, they just wouldnt allow it.

I bet the seller has specified them to make some extra dough, drop onto ebay live chat and they will tell you

Is the seller using paypal to pay for the shipping rather than going to the post office?

Maybe paypal's built in shipping option automatically calculatea and adda on the import duty, if it works it'll save the handling fees for royal mail to process the parcel when it arrives in the UK.

Love to see the outcome on this, I buy a lot fromthe states.

I shall let you know. Just ordered a Emperors Royal Guard Canadian release and will be paying via Paypal. I know the postage is steep and am a bit worried about using standard airmail, but it's either that or $68 tracked delivery!!!! Package is coming from Canada which is supposed to be more than U.S postage.

Just sorting out the postage in the next 24HRS...

Well i just paid and there was no mention of any extra charges. That was for a carded figure. Doesn't seem right that you are being asked to pay taxes. Might be different outside of Canada.

Sorted it out. To be fair the seller was really helpful. He had listed them for shipping via ebay global and I found out on ebay that a company listed on the NY Stock exchange collects the import fees on the government's behalf. I didn't read it all as it was boring the tits off me,but I requested an invoice from the seller and that seems to have resolved it.

The best bit was when I queried the shipping as it was for 4 items and I thought $100+ was a bit extreme. Ebay global advised him it was 4 transactions so I should be charged for 4 lots of shipping and the relevant customs charges, wankers!!!

Can't post a link from my phone, but if you search paypal customs charges or eBay global shipping you can find out more,if you can be arsed that is.....
