Hi all

I have just ordered a few rough figures to have a go at some customizing, to se if I'm any good at it, as i have done lot's of modeling with Milliput in the past & thought it would be a nice way to put my own interpretations in to my collection.

I have 1 major question though, how do you get them apart to put new heads & limbs on without breaking them :?:

Hi Frank,

You'll have to use the old boil and pop method

Here is a link with instructions:-

Hope you find it helpful.

boil and pop is easy and it wont damage paint work

im in the process of doing a custom DSD with the german prototype head on a c3po body

i have the mantis head arriving soon :) ill them mold it with a neck peg that will fit the figure, by chopping off the original and then cast my own custom head out of urothane liquid plastic :)

i did a uzay rifle custom for cocofstar too :)

like the ones with the removable hats
what did you do just grab a handfull of beat up figs and throw them in pot ,mix limbs then put them back tother

but the luke guard looks like he should have been in a 'carry on' film
I thought he looked like Frank Spencer !!

The Han head always looks good in different costumes. 8)

Yes Jabba, basically what you said (don't boil them to long or the color fades) :( , just got some rough figures that came in a bulk lot with some bit's I wanted & did surgery

Yeah, the luke besbin security guard looks a bit dicey but the Han head would have never fitted the hat, which I hollowed out with a dremmle type tool, displays nicely holding the hat but a bit dodge wearing it.

Must say I quite like the Leia Jedi Boush disguise, came out better than anticipated & was my first attempt.

Managed to make those 6 out of 9 figures, now where do I get spare heads from

i have smoothcast 305 liquid plastic for casting instead of what he used on this post... it dries white and at 60D shore hardness (slightly flexi like limbs and weapons.)

it takes 7 minutes to "go off" so i thought for a first attempt that would be ok since some others an go off in 3mins so u gotta be really fast or u will be wasting plastic

im gunna get more silicone soon to do the DSD mold and cast

this is my first cast from my first ever mold- it was made in 2 parts that i pressed together just as the plastic was going off :)
