I was expecting a 2-3 nil beating.

Take nothing away from England they played really well. Gotta wonder if this will b enough to wake the BCCI up, or will they continue to pick players based on popularity and prioritise the more profitable IPL over test cricket.
Ohh and maybe making a pitch that offered even an ounce of help to a seamer might mean they actually develop a few. They do tend to come in handy outside of the sub-continent. Especially when you refuse to play Bangladesh and games with Pakistan are..........well, yeah!

indeed very impressive england i didnt see this happening, i knew sachin was on the wane but i thought sehwag would of hammered us this series! i think india need too drop some senior players now and bring in some new blood for future tests and as for england drop bresnan for ever and bring in onions. bell saved his skin yet again with his last innings of the series :roll: ! joe root looks a good find batted really well! and our 2 spinners were 100 times better than india's its not often you can say that!

Agreed on the spinners and Bell. Although I'd be tempted to give Joe Root a run in the next series (it's in NZ I think) at Bell's expense. Bar his last innings Bell contributed pretty much nothing.
Harsh on Bresnan. Those pitches are a seamers nightmare, there's nothing in them.

Gonna be hard to drop Monty as well, but horse for courses, it's only really in the sub continent you use two spinners.

As for NZ, 45 all out. Pathetic really. I'd say a decent club side could make a fist of getting that even against Steyn, Morkel and Phillander!

Saw a bit of it on the highlights. It's one of those freak results that come along every once in a while.

Great player, on form, finds nice accomodating pitch. Opposition a little rusty and unaccustomed to the conditions have an off day on the first day of a test match and hey presto.

That's probably the series lost though. No way Pakistan will win it now.

NZ have always been the kind of country who have 2-3 decent players and then a load of boys who bust their guts and try get the absolute most from themselves.

England should win the test series to nil, assuming the weather doesn't claim a game.

swann is out of the 1st test v new zeland and possibly rest of tour! ahh we still have monty . i see austrailia lost again to india quite heavily 2-0 to india now in the current series, we beat india well in there own backyard, at this rate the back to back ashes series this year will be a white wash england all the way! .

australia are in right slump considering 1st class cricket in oz is the equivilant to premier league football in this country, i find it laughable that in population of over 20,000,000 they have no decent 1st class spinners in its major sport. the oz cricket board are that desperate that there trying too fast-track the citizenship application of Pakistan-born leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed ahead of this summer's Ashes series, clutching at straws or what! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/21647159
