Hi there! My name is Jane, I love watching the movies over and over again (4-6, mostly), and I have many friends who have more than $10,000 worth of SW stuff in their homes. I don't usually go on forums, so I'm kind of new at this. I came here because I need some answers that you, the people on the forum, could answer. I'm actually doing a research paper on the consumer culture of Star Wars, and I wanted to get some info from other fans, since this is a scholarly paper and I can't write about it myself or my friends. I posted on another forum, but I thought it would be more rational to post on a forum that actually sells SW products. So my basic questions are: what makes you, the consumer of the Star Wars empire (pun intended) buy a product affiliated with Star Wars? Why do you like to invest money into the Star Wars logo? How much time do you invest in the buying and selling of the Star Wars products? This includes video games, figurines, the holiday special, and other products that contribute to your love for Star Wars, if it's the case.
Please feel free to answer however you like, and whether or not you would like to be directly quoted. If you do, I will change your name and/or use your screen name.

Thanks in advance!

What about tracking the guy down from across the pond that recently forked out over £10k one figure, the Palitoy VC Jawa??

Hi Jane

No offence but you need to get your head around the subject A LOT more before you write anything about Star Wars collectors. Clearly Star Wars is not something that you are overly familiar with or passionate about; this is evident in your comment about the Holiday Special which was just an embarrassment to the world of Star Wars, even more-so than Episode 1 (Phantom Menace)

To fill you in, Holiday Special was made for TV in the US in the late 70's. It was so rubbish that it was only broadcast once and then swiftly forgotten about, hence the rarity. However, before the internet, when collecting was more of a challenge, the show was talked about. God only knows why :? Possibly because it was tricky to get hold of in the UK, but if you did you wish you hadn't bothered.

I'm not sure what advice to give you. One thing is for sure - if you have to ask why people invest in the 'Star Wars logo' or in 'figurines' then it's probably best to spend a while on forums reading through what the guys have to say before asking questions.
