Closed now, for all nice of you who bothered to enter! I'll sort out my spreadsheet with the results tomorrow - betcha can't wait! lol

It's been a while since we've had an open entry competition and as I've been having a clear out of some of my Star Wars stuff I thought I'd run a competition for a bit of fun!

I toyed with doing this last summer but never got around to it as a house move got in the way. Some of you know that I work in Education so I thought I'd do a competition based around the results that my students get in their A/AS-Levels! It is pretty straight forward; all you have do is predict the grades you think they will achieve (obviously no names will be used!). For example, I have one class of eight students doing AS-Level English Language, therefore you could predict the following:

A: 2 B:3 C:2 D:1 E:0 U:0

then if the real results where as follows:

A: 0 B: 3 C: 3 D:1 E:1 U:0

That person's guess for that class would get six correct guesses. So, each correct guess gets you a point. The person with the most points wins [first prize]!

Last year I taught the following classes:

1. AS-Level English Language - eight (8) students - therefore eight guesses needed
2. A-Level English Language - 21 students - therefore 21 guesses needed
3. AS-Level Creative Writing - 10 students - therefore 10 guesses needed

If you could submit your entry in the following format it would make things easier for me (I'll be inputting all the entries onto a spreadsheet):

1. A: B: C: D: E: U:
2. A*: A: B: C: D: E: U:
3. A: B: C: D: E: U:

The only entry requirements is that you have to have been a member of the forum prior to today and have a minimum post count of 50.

THE PRIZES!

I'll probably add some more as I continue clearing out but first up are a bunch of mini-rigs, in played with condition but would be okay to use in diaramas or to give the kids top play with. All are complete apart from the sail on the skiff and the gun from CAP-2.

Closing date for the competition is midnight on the 13 August (results are published at 6am on the 14 August). I will post up redacted screenshots from the e-AQA website which will show the grades (but obviously not the names!)

Good luck and have fun guessing!

As Boba Skinner suggested just copy and paste his entry and put your own predictions in there! I guess not a lot of you guys fill in betting coupons!b

P.S. Some contextual information - I work in the North West of England in a small Sixth Form which is part of a large FE College. Massive range of abilities are catered for, some really bright kids and some, um, less so!

No one taking you on Slider?

You may need to dumb down your expanation even further for the thicko's on the forum. Not me. :D

How many kids you teaching in how many different classes this year?

I couldn't even get to grips with the question let alone figure out an answer.

Care to dumb it down a little?????

Right going to have a crack at this then maybe people will just copy and paste mine and change the answers to make it easier for them, let's jus yet hope I've got this correct.

(1). A - 1. B - 3. C - 2. D - 2. E - 0. U - 0.

(2). A - 4. B - 6. C - 6. D - 3. E - 1. U - 1

(3). A - 2. B - 3. C - 3. D - 1. E - 1. U - 0.

Think I've got that all correct.

Get involved everyone!

1. A:1 B:2 C:2 D:1 E:1 U:1 8 students
2. A*:0 A:3 B:3 C:10 D:2 E:3 U:0 21 students
3. A:0 B:3 C:4 D:2 E:1 U:0 10 students

Hopefully that makes it easy for people to follow.

Think I'm just going to say they'll all do well in their on way and get the results they deserve :D

(1). A - 3 B - 2 C - 1 D - 2. E - 0. U - 0.

(2). A - 7 B - 5 C - 5 D - 3. E - 0 U - 1

(3). A - 3 B - 2 C - 2 D - 1. E - 1. U - 1

I went a bit old school and drew it out on an envelope, took a snap with the phone and PM'd it!
Good luck everyone :)

1. A:2B:1C:1D:2E:1 U:1 8 students
2. A*:1A:3B:2C:11D:1E:3 U:0 21 students
3. A:1B:4C:2D:2 E:1 U:0 10 students

1. A:3 B:1 C:3 D:0 E:0 U:0 8 students
2. A*:2 A:5 B: 3 C:6 D:4 E: 1 U:0 21 students
3. A:2 B:2 C: 4 D:1 E:1 U:0 10 students

I totally didn't get the question. What happened to A B C D E & F grades?

Can we start at the beginning? - What's an 'AS' and what do the number relate to?

1. A:3 B:2 C:1 D:1 E:1 U:0 8 students
2. A*:1 A:6 B:9 C:4 D:0 E:0 U:1 21 students
3. A:3 B:2 C:4 D:0 E:1 U:0 10 students

Haven't a clue what I've just done but have done it.

1. A:1 B:1 C:3 D:2 E:1 U:0 8 students
2. A*:0 A:2 B:5 C:8 D:3 E:3 U:0 21 students
3. A:1 B:2 C:3 D:3 E:1 U:0 10 students

Thanks for another great comp :)

Sorry for the delay - work problems got in the way, anyway here are the results:

DarthSithLord is the winner with 26 points! PM me with your choice of prize and your address to send it to.

There is a three way tie with three people on 25 points - Savoury100, CC4RHU and JediMasters. SO a tie break question!

Tie breaker is: what percentage of my GCSE students achieved a grade C or above?

The closest two win!
