I started reading this thread and found the article really interesting, however keep reading the posts to see how out of hand this gets. I actually can't believe this is all over Star Wars.

To think someone's wife gets abuse is crazy

I really wouldn't know who's in the right or wrong there. Too many egos bouncing around  Collecting Star Wars toys does not make you world famous for fooks sake :x

great fun arent they?

There's also a bit where he offers the other fella out " come and see me face to face at CE , and not hide "
or words along those lines!

Yeah I couldn't believe what had happened to my post when I logged back in to see the comments. I had no idea about any of that stuff related to Nick had happened or else I wouldn't have bothered posting the link. My thinking was with the bickering going on in the worst packing job thread that this would be something positive about one of the RS members on the starwars.com site. Instead all hell broke loose.

Its embarrassing how serious it gets on there, I cant believe some of the things in those posts, wife pushing etc....hilarious!

they need to get over their ****ing ego's, THEY ARE TOYS that we collect people! lets keep some kind of perspective on it!

That's why I don't post on RS more often. Far too many anally retentive wankers.

I could call them a bunch of childish bitches. I won't, mind you, but I could.

A big thank you to Spencer for posting the link and flagging up that thread that I would have otherwise never read

Hello.

I read about 3/4 of the posts before i got ****ed off reading them all, There were far to many posts to read,
I skipped to the end to find that they were almost fighting over Starwars toys.
this hobby is nuts. i thought i was a vocal but these guys are 10 times worse than il ever be.
It just goes to show how searious people take this hobby.

Thanks for the great read.

As someone who has been directly effected by such actions I can tell you it is a real kick in the nuts when you spend over 5 years pulling a collection of pieces together at a reasonable cost, allow someone to cast them for their own collection and then subsquently catch them selling copies for their own profit isn't funny. To put it into some kind of perspective, think of your most prized item in your collection and then the heatache of seeing muliple copies sold at a tenth of the price. Regardless of them copies or not, and regardles of if they are sold as 'originals' or not, the sheer scarcity of such items is demolished. The Palitoy store display sticker is testament to that. At CE people freaked and seeing such a thing, post CE there are images everywhere, a few copies and the general desirability and magic for such a unique item is not the same.

It's a shame the thread went the way it did, as nothing but the best intentions were mean't at the start, but I now cannot condone the reproduction of itmes after what happend and is one of the reasons I rarely post any images of my collection anymore.

Dave.

I wasnt making a flippant remark or trying to incite some kind of RS riot.

I dont believe that the magic for those items has diminished, most people would much prefer the real article surely? I remember seeing Jason at CE and how extraordinarily excited he was about the Palitoy window sticker!

I dont agree that people should be making money from other peoples items either! Its a sad state of affairs but unfortunately greed seems to take over with some people and thats a real shame!

Perhaps we need a section on here where people can post pics of their items without being concerned that they will be passed on? A section that is only viewable by a select few perhaps, I dont know its just a real shame that some people are afraid to lime-light some of their amazing collections.

I know that 8) I'm just saying that when it does happen to you, there is a great deal mixed emotion that comes out of it.

maybe, but that sounds like an 'inner circle' kind of thing

Where did Darth's post go? I was just about to reply?

Nick and I go a way back and have even worked together at my previous job.
In a nutshell, Nick was asking for high res images post CE of both the sticker and some of the pages of some of the trade catalogues.

Whilst Nick created the cling based on images and did alter the font and size, would those who don't have an original to compare with know the font or size is wrong?

It's a very sticky point, of which I did highlight back when he first showed me and offered me one of which I declined. Nonetheless, he did post and offer a few for sale, but it also attracted the attention and criticism I warned him of.

However if you are looking for one, I may know of one that is for sale.

I know it does, I just think its a shame that fair and honest people dont get to see some of the more rare and obscure things that are out there through fear of them being copied!

I was a bit dismayed seeing copies of the Palitoy window stciker being sold on ebay so
shortly after I had forked out a tidy sum for 1 of 3 known examples of it at CE.

The copy has slightly different fonts to the original, so you can tell if you know what
you're looking for.
