Collecting in the 80s

Ok Benny, another member mentioned that to me yesterday on a private message.
Yes a staggering amount for a Star Wars figure.

Hopefully I might have one lurking in my boxes.

I gather it was in brand new condition....What was the reason why it sold for so much money...?
Was it the rocket firing one, I remember hearing about these years ago but never owned one.

I never saw it in the national news to be fair, I will have a look on google later.

It was purely because it was a highly sort after figure to complete a collecting run for many collectors and there are very few of this figure in sealed condition known to exist.

Hence the high price

And not forgetting the Boba Fett tax, at least triples the value of any item based on its actual rarity.

And of course Palitoy and Vectis combined hype

That's an awesome combination!

Can anybody help please.....?

Im in the middle of sorting my items out to sell on this forum and after doing a bit of research online and speaking to other members, I gather that quite a few of my carded figures are of pretty high value.
These have been stored in boxes for years and thankfully have not been damaged at all.

I have read recently about some plastic containers or holders which are made to store carded figures so that they dont get any damage or dust on them.

I want to buy some of these to protect my items......any help with what they are called and where I can buy them would be appreciated.

Sorry to ask for your help again, its a new world to me is all this...Lol

Sounds like you either need Star Cases for storage - or acrylic cases for display

I know a man (me) that can help you out :D

These are Star Cases - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-PROTECH-VINTAGE-STAR-WARS-ACTION-FIGURE-STAR-CASES-BRAND-NEW-/131453075380?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

oh brilliant star cases.......of course....as in star wars cases......what a great invention.
I will get some of these over the next few days.....

Thanks again.....hoping to get some items up for sale after the weekend.

As Iain said above, give him a shout. Probably the cheapest you'll find them anywhere + great service 8)

When posting, fill the Star Case with packing peanuts as well to support the bubble ;)

Thanks for the tip Cazza, I dont think I will post some of the more expensive carded items if I sell them, too much to risk in the post.
I will get some cases very soon.

Oh thanks for the pm hothrebel.
I see your after meccano items.....

I think I might have some meccano metal building sets in my parents loft, would you be interested or can I only sell Star Wars items on this forum...?

I think he's after Star Wars Meccano stuff. They were like the French version of Palitoy on square cards. Seem to remember the Jawa being fairly common in the 90's, but not so many around now.

(removed the longest link in the world- Joe)

Oh yes, now I remember those years ago, a lot smaller card than the Palitoy ones.
You have just jogged my memory now, I think I might have a pack of 8 jawas kicking about somewhere.....I think they came in a cardboard sleeve with cellophane around them.

I seem to remember having 3 or 4 different ones of these pass through my hands years ago, C3PO, Death squad commander, Jawa, maybe just 3 of them.
Loads of jawas around in the late 80s, my friend used to sell a case of I think 8 for £40.....even at that price they were slow.

Not sure what a case would sell for now.

Hopefully you list any for sale items for everyone to have a fair chance at.

For every post you make someone else sends a PM off in private so by the time you do open a sales thread on here you will only have some crappy old Klaatus left

Yes as Joe says I would strongly recommend doing a list and making a post in the valuations section, as you said yourself you don't seem up on current values so you could end up selling something that looks mundane but is actually very rare and kick yourself later. Most people here are good guys but not many can resist a bargain!

Yes, I got your pm about the cases but Ive managed to locate some nearer to where I live and I will pick them up this weekend.
Thank you anyway but I do need quite a few and it will save on postage also.
