Clearing out my parents' house...

Sorry Josh but think it might be you that has missed the point :-

"And once again for the people who may have missed it. The guy didn't want offers...he wanted a valuation of them. Not what YOU would be willing to pay for them."

Martin wrote -

"I found my old Star Wars collection. I wondered if someone might be able to tell me how best to sell it."

Stuart (SOkeefe) wrote -

"I have finally decided to sell my vintage star wars collection and am a bit clueless as to where to start"

The first sentance of each thread started with the person saying they were looking to sell their items - they were asking for valuations but wanted to SELL their items

Also - why has this turned into an anti-Joe issue. Joe, in my opinion did nothing worng. He is certainly not 'playing the victim' in my eyes. After all the **** that he put up with over the Jawa then I am not surprised that he wanted to give the guy a valuation of he was interested in buying it (and bare in mind that the guy did want to SELL it)

And that means he has to sell them here?

No it doesnt - but here is as good a place as any.

I honestly do not get what your problem is. Guy comes on here wanting to sell his Star Wars items - this is a Star Wars forum and people on here like to buy Star Wars items - sounds like a good place to sell them ?

Well thanks for all that - but I still dont get your point

As as for the " Not buttfucking" I think you are bang out of order. Last time I looked, this is a free world and no one is forcing anyone to accept any prices/quotes/values/offers. If you are telling me that you have never put in a low offer for anything then I think you must be something of a saint.

I am sorry, I should clarify. He wants guidance, as in the right way to go about it...not to just be shafted out of the few cool pieces he may have ie butt ****ed.

Hope that is clearer.

Ok, and we might be going round in circles here but who is exactly trying to shaft him out of these items - as I, and others on here have said - all that has happened is offers have been made by those looking to buy pieces that they have already told are to be sold - those offers can easliy be rejected

I would understand more if we were talking about people asking for valuations on their collections that they wanted to keep and then havijng offers thrown at them

He wanted advice on how to sell them. That's it. It doesn't mean he automatically has to sell them on here or to anyone who gives him advice does it? What happened to just helping people out because...even if you don't get ANYTHING out of it in return.

Sooking because it ended up on eBay instead of in your home or at a friends home, for a bargain price, after ALL the help you gave because you are such a good guys and that's just what you do etc etc, kind of defeats the purpose of being kind in the first place doesn't it? Bit phony don't you think? Too me it is anyway.[/quote]

Who is sulking? (sooking) and who is being phony ?

I and others helped the guys with valuations and then made offers - if they had been accepted then all well and good and if they werent - well there are plenty more Luke Jedi's in the sea. It is those who are here playing the 'holier than thou' cards that are making waves.

I can't see the problem with making an offer on any item thats publically shared- especially one that turns up in a valuations thread. The owner has the choice to accept or decline the offer.

As for the Jawa I offered the same amount as Joe- I know what the Market value of a sealed Tri logo jawa is- to me a cardback on it's own has very little value- I would have said £30-50 would have been a fair offer offer off eBay- as the last one sold for £56, so by the time you have listed it paid the fees etc etc I feel that offer was fair.

Not sure what all is the fuss is about really- I frequently make people offers for items in their collections- if they feel its low they just turn down the offer and thats that!!

For ****s sake everyone calm down! Maybe it's the **** weather :?

I thought the one that sold for $150 sold after the valuations were given. It was my belief that valuations are given on known past sales... i'm not sure where else numbers can be got from.
I don't know about this Jawa cardback as i've personally not seen any for sale but if indeed they were the finishing prices and valuations were given based on that then that's all people can do. If people are giving low, false valuations then that's a different matter.
This whole thing started by chewy was not about giving low valuations. His point, in his own words, was merely that interest in an item or an offer should not be given on a valuation thread. Is that not something that can and has be/en done honestly??
It seems peoples arguments keep going to very different places. I'm not even sure what yours or Chewys point is anymore. If it's that people should not give false valuations and purposely try to rip off noobs who don't know the value of their stuff then THAT i of course agree with. I don't think that's ever been in question tho and your problem seems to be with one member and is being attached to EVERY member. There is no basis for this. It's just flinging **** for flinging shits sake.
Chewy's reaction was unbelievably over the top in the context he claimed it to be. Leaving the forum because someone said they'd be interested in someones item is unbelievably ridiculous. If he had previous with Joe i don't know about it so can't comment. I think Josh, you had more of an issue with a separate situation but used this situation to voice your issues and that has left your argument a little confusing and rather weak only in that it is built on Chewy's rather silly foundations. I'm not getting at you personally here but i'm just trying to get you to see why people just aren't getting your point/points here.
