My Mum always hid my presents under my parents bed, original (not) so they were always easy to find.

When MOTU first came out in 1981/82 I had requested the first 8 figures. Checked under the bed expecting nothing - but found 7 of them!! Only Teela missing, was sooo excited could not stop looking at them. Checked nearly every other day, but as Christmas got closer Teela still hadn't appeared.....bit worried now - had she forgotten about Teela, could she not find Teela.

Anyway on Christmas day remember she had packed 2 MOC's together and yes Teela was there!! When I opened Teela with the other MOC, remember my Mum saying the length I went to get her. Apparently she had tried everywhere but simply could not find her. Eventually 'a very nice lady' in a Toy shop was willing to open boxes and boxes of MOTU figures out the back until she found a Teela.

And yes this being an early Teela it had the rarest comic book 'The Tale of Teela' which I wish I kept.

Good thread

Gosh, was MOTU around in 81/82? Never knew that :)

Weirdly it was probably around 1991/2 so I was around school leaving age. Found a full black bin liner in my parents' wardrobe. Had a nosey to find it contained a Millenium Falcon and loads of other cool loose Star Wars goodness.

Step dad used to deal books and he picked the lot up from car boot sales for me and my brother who were collecting at the time. Ace present :D Can't remember exactly what was in there. A lot of loose figures, mini rigs, Taun Taun, the Falcon, Scout Walker.

my mam tells me tale of getting optimus prime .she said it was christmas eve and pissing it down when someone called from a shop saying they had one .me mam who doesnt drive far got her to hold on to it while she got there ....bless her

That's a cool story. Optimus Prime was deffo up there as one of the coolest 80's toys.

The only stories my parents tell me are how much of a **** the other one was before they got divorced

No doubt parents had to work a lot harder back then to get what we wanted - now it's just a button on a keyboard and you've bought it, how times have changed.

Toys were better back then though
