As of right now I'm planning on going. CIV was my first Celebration and I am hooked after that.
I'm totally opposite. CIV was my first as well and I was not impressed at all. Don't get me wrong, if it was here in LA again I would probably go and I hope whoever goes has a great time.

Wow first bad comment I have heard on the boards actually Bryan!

I watched Shawns short video he made of his trip and it looked pretty awesome to me!

Granted I wasn't there so I can't disagree or agree but it looked pretty spectacular!

Did you meet up with many RS guys there?

Oh and Shawn if you and Chris meet up you will have to take along an 8D8 as a stand in for me! LOL

Wish I could get there guys :( Have a good time for me!

I don't mean to make it seemed like it sucked. It was just OK as far as the "stuff" goes. I think most people are more jazzed about hooking up with fellow collector's and the after show get togethers. I'm sure that's a freakin blast! I typically keep to myself so I only went for the stuff and what I saw was either unrealistically overpriced or common everyday items.

I guess my thing is I have to go where people are unaware of what they have in order to secure the great deals. If I go to a Star Wars only show, most likely people know what they have so not only is the hunt futile, i'm going to pay top dollar for anything there. I can do that on eBay... :D

I'm all about the stuff! 8)

I reckon I would just be stoked to meet up with the people I speak to!

I know what you mean about the overpriced stuff at cons..

I don't buy things at those places either   All about the atmosphere and mates!

I can see why you would think that then. I knew everything in the dealer areas would be probably overpriced before I went. However, I did plan on getting a Blue Snag or Yakface while there and had heard if you pay with cash you can get dealers to go a little cheaper since they avoid the CC fees. I bought a Blue Snag for $130 which it did have some boot wear, but not too bad. I thought that was decent for a convention and it was originally priced at $150.

The highlight for me though was the collector panels. They were like going through a live presentation of information from the archive and the way they were presented actually kept my wife interested. I could have stayed the whole convention in those rooms, but tried to do a few things she wanted to as well. I hope this time I can go to the social beforehand and meet some other collectors.

I guess it just depends on what you go to the convention for. I think the only way you will get decent prices is outside of the dealer area through private transactions, but again it will be people who know what they are selling. I personally went for the panels and convention activities rather than to try and get some good deals. I imagine you get to go to more conventions though in your area. CIV was the 3rd convention I've ever attended with the previous two being Sci Fi conventions and not just focused on SW.

Well at this moment in time i am certainly planning on going. And i am so glad that it is going to be hosted in Orlando as my parents have a holiday home out there. I have just got off the phone with them and booked it for the time of CV and will definately plan to make a 2 week break of it.

Sounds like you've got it all sorted then Steve. :) Hope to see you there.

Stuff wise, CIII was much better than CIV. Also, there were more dealers as well. I loved Indianapolis for CIII and hated LA for CIV. Guess I am not much of a California person. If I go to CV, I am not counting on dealers having anything that I need. The after hours "sales" on Friday or Saturday will be the best. A lot of rare ass **** comes out for sale. Hardcopies, firstshots, proof, etc are up. I have to post some pictures from CIII and CIV one day. Both night sales were ****ing kickass. The August time frame gives me more time to save some money and spend a summer with family as well. Hell, I might go and have a beer with Mickey after all..

Looks like I will be saving up some cash to give to Shawn or Chris then

Agreed completely. I've yet to see an opening ceremony. I *rarely* see a panel that isn't collector related and the only shows I have seen are the Vader project and Shane's tattoo competition and that's because I've worked for him on all of them. I'm all about hanging out with friends and doing collector related things. Most of us don't do too much of the fanboy stuff.

Jedi534, the sad part is if you did the community thing you'd have seen the hotel sales at our hotel. We had an entire bar area to sell, dubbed the "Cantina sales", and we had a blast. Tons of rare stuff and all fair prices. I made about $800 in sales and spent $4,000. LOL

I'm jazzed already. We have a TON of rooms in the Rosen Centre reserved already. We've got almost 2 floors booked.

That's awesome. I myself am involved in a form of (job-related) "seasonal pop-culture" that requires me to represent about 3-4 times a year in multiple states. I can tell you some of the best times of my life have been the after hours parties and get togethers that get so crazy at times that the memories will stay with me forever! Ever hear the one about the Bar waitress with no panties who made sure everyone knew it and who eventually socked our buddy in the face because he... well nevermind... I gotcha man! :D

"Party in the Hot-Tub!"

**** me!!! Sara is up for postponing teh honeymoon so we can go. She even said I better buy tickets :D :D :D :D

I went to both of them in Indy and they were both poorly ran events....what a cluster ****.

Well, reserved my room today. For now, I will be staying at the Rosen Center. It is in walking distance of the Convention Center as well. The family might come along, so we can spend some time at Disney. Hope it works out for everyone is who is thinking about coming..
