Hey guys.

I have full car insurance.

Can I have my girlfriend:

01: On a separate policy. Mine is closed for the holiday.
02: Put 'L' plates on my car and let her drive?

Many thanks.

She has a licence.

She can drive your car if she has a policy which allows her to drive other vehicles or as a named driver on your policy. Why woud she need L plates if she has a licence?

Think licence may mean provisional? Given L plates. Or maybe the Maulster is that chauvinist that he insists on L plates for a woman driver

The 'L' plate is to warn the public that she insists on doing squareabouts instead of roundabouts. :?

I thought if she has a fully comp cover of her own, she can drive other vehicles including yours, just have to check her policy though that it doesn't limit her driving your car to third party, as some do best as Frank says checking out the market as there are some great deals to be had

our insurance is cheaper over here due to the fact we have no roundabouts (That would cause numerous wrecks here)........oh and of course because our steering wheel is on the correct side.

I actually find the small 'mini roundabouts' more dangerous than the big 4-6 lane ones.

You can't have two policies on the same car so you have to add her to your insurance as a named driver. If she is fully comp on another car she may be insured, depending on the small print.

You might find your insurance is cheaper with the Mrs on it :) ...or possibly not if she's a new driver :?
