Black and white Bounty Hunter Capture Log

I was talking recently to a fellow SWF member about a capture log I have that is black and white. I know it defiantly came out of a sealed Empire Slave 1 as it was one I picked up from a market shop in the early 90's and was sealed etc. He has a great deal of experience with SW paperwork and thought it may be a miss-print run without colour.

At first I thought Palitoy company was drawing to an end, so thought they started to put photo-copies in boxes as a cost cutting exercise as maybe they ran out of the red printed version. But the more I look at it , it appears printed, as a photo copy would show up the red more darker and I think photo copies of the early 80's were a lot more ruff than todays modern copies.
Just thought I would ask if this is a known run and if other members remember them as kids or have seen them in m-I-b examples.

It's not one I've ever come across before, it's possible it was part of a print run that had the red plate missing on the press.

Yeah I'd agree with that. It's definitely not a photocopy and you can see that some of the areas which should be red are the same as the white areas.

My monies on a print error. As mentioned in the above posts it appears that the red ink is missing from some area's which remain white (ie unprinted).

So far I have been able to find 4 different variants for this leaflet which are shown below, and yes at some stage I would love to add this print error

Thanks for all the info / thoughts on this guys, "could be five types now Pomes", let me know if anyone else has an example of this as it must have been quite a large run if the printers delivered them to the Palitoy factory and quality control thought they were ok to ship ?? would of thought the print run for an order would be quite large :?:

Exactly right, if this were the case, there must be more out there.

Hope know one mind's me bumping this one ,
Just in case there are some new eyes on here that may know if any more of these black and white print error B H C Logs are out there, if it is a print error, I can't imagine I've got the only one ??? as previously discussed , just curious to see if any more had come to light. I don't want to be the only patron of the B & W B H C Log club :lol: no photo copy's allowed

And I've only just noticed that that illustration on the rear is demonstrating the cutting out of a nameplate on a card back that was most definitely not a Palitoy card back! Given the cutting of nameplates was a UK think I wonder why the (no doubt) UK illustrator ended up with a Kenner card back. No doubt it was the first card that came to hand and no thought or concern was given to the fact it was Kenner but goes to show the prevelance of Kenner stock in the UK during the ESB era. Given the modern (relative) rarity of 30, 41 and 45 backs I guess it's no surprise.

Yes, I suspect the simplest answer is the correct one - the printer was out of red ink!

The majority of collectors don't go for error pieces - they'd prefer a piece to be mint and as it's meant to be - but there is a small market that likes the strange and esoteric! (I also spot a certain paperwork collector in this very thread who this would suit...)

It would be a fantastic addition to my focus, but the current owner is very attached to this item, which I don't blame him.

Hopefully another example will show up sometime soon.

It's not boring at all mate, I always love 'new' findings like this.
I have always wondered about the Boba Fett 12" instructions as I have both glossy and matt versions but am sure this is a more common occurrence than yours.
In fact thinking about it I bet they differentiate between the SW and ESB versions?
