Wow some serious amount of baggies and mailers up for auction, not sure on the rarity of these but I can see the prices going through the roof especially as they have bundled so many into one auction, 15 in one offering would have preferred to see them individually.

Live auction via ebay..

http://www.ebay.com/clt/collectibles-live-events/vintage-to-modern-toys-comic-books-568238?_ipg=48&_pgn=4&_ofs=141

I know we shouldn't out live auctions but I can not see this lot going under the radar..

Holy crap, that's a lot of mailers and baggies!

I feel like a noob but I have to confess I have not seen this live auction format on Ebay before? Can anyone explain how this works?

Seems like a strange way to sell, and even though there are some tempting items there, the seller has awful feedback which puts me off a bit.

I'm a big noob too. I don't know why those sets of figures would have been mailed out. Ordering them from the US versions of Littlewoods catalogue is it?

For auctions so highbrow ( to me ) there's not much info in the descriptions.

Yep nice one for outing this :|

Oh come on do you really think it needed to be outed when it is all over the internet and anybody with an interest in vintage Star Wars will find it on eBay anyway... No different than us putting up the links to vectis auctions...!!

Yes many will see it, but the outing auction thing is implemented for a good reason, being a baggie nut myself, the more chance I have at a crack at this the better, so obviously the less that know about these, the better for myself & anyone else that finds them off their own back.

There is no 'auction outing' rule on this forum, I believe everyone should have a fair chance of getting their hands on things.

I have not seen it mentioned on FB yet, once that is out then the cat is really out of the bag!!

I only talk about vintage auctions of pontential buying interest amongst collectors once they have finished.

I know there's no auction outing rule but as this auction is also listed on ebay it's a tricky one as there have been numerous posts about not outing ebay auctions and in fact not outing an ebay auction straight away after it's ended to prevent being back doored.

To me it's just common sense not to mention some of these things as I've found that the majority of members on here try to help each other out ( I actually PM'd Frank about this auction as I thought he might be interested in it). I think for me it's always nice to hear that somebody picked something up that slipped by everyone else every now and then. I know there was an unpublicised auction the other day that a member here picked up a Palitoy 12 back Chewbacca at a good price and I don't think anyone would begrudge the member for winning that. As mentioned earlier this listing hasn't hit Facebook yet ( although it probably has by now), so maybe not everyone and the world knows about every single vintage Star Wars listing there is out there at any given time.

Just my thoughts on it and for myself I'm still going to keep things quiet until after they've happened just incase someone on here's after something.

Where would we draw the line though, if we can't discuss this then I'd have to delete all the Vectis threads as well (which would be great for me as I want some of the trilogos  )

People need to remember that although we all like getting a bargain, nobody is entitled to one. You can't complain that you don't get something for below market value, it is the sellers right to get market value for it. I'm sure you wouldn't sell your own collections for less than they're worth for the good of an individual.

Although this is far from well publicized (over here) I don't see the problem of "outing" this sale. It is a dedicated toy auction that's taking place in the real world as well as on ebay. This isn't some badly described ebay listing or a single toy in a general sale. Good on you for highlighting this to the forum. I understand keeping a particular listing or item quiet in the hope of picking up a bargain, but if anyone reckons they're going to get a bargain from these people they're mistaken, I reckon. After all, it only take two people in the entire world to want the same thing and the price goes daft, particularly when there are some rare items up for grabs like this. Although it's not well advertized this side of the Atlantic In the meantime, by not letting those on this forum, who weren't aware of it, know you may be stopping someone from picking up their holy grail. That tastes a little bad, to me.

Just google Sellersville and see what shows up. This place is hardly undiscovered and even appeared on Toy Hunter.

Thanks Edd, that was my point at the at the start of this, these sales originate form an auction house http://sellersvilleauction.com/ the same as Vectis and the same as the DT and pre production auction that was on the boards last week while it was still live.

Just because they are simultaneously running the auction on ebay makes it no different to the other auctions that are always outed on the forum.

This is done so all forum members can have a look and a bid if they wish, especially when it is cool stuff you do not see everyday.

Enough said on this now, on my part anyway...

Cheers.

My thought's exactly cheers Simon.

I think RS is largely responsible for the auction outing rule being used on other forums by members, even if those forums don't have a proper rule in place about auctions. It's one of those unwritten rules where people are supposed to use their common sense and personally I never saw that as a bad thing tbh. In fact I think many of us asked for auction links posted on here to be taken down over the years, I remember Liam outed a few and Jason started a debate on auction outing as he was unhappy that something he had won was being discussed a few hours after he had won it (fear of being backdoored!).

On the subject of Vectis, it's important to remember that they've been auctioning off Star Wars gear for literally years and their auctions weren't always discussed on here (or any other forum) at all, not even when they were over! As times gone on they've obviously had some really amazing stuff come up that people are dying to discuss (Craig advertising his upcoming sale on here probably started it all I think) and with the latest Palitoy employee auctions and shop stock lots coming up directly after Craig's stuff it's almost become commonplace for someone to drop the link in as soon as it's all listed and for members to watch it all play out.

I understand what you mean with your last post Edd and I quite agree that when selling all of us hope to make some decent money but at the same time isn't it the seller/auction houses responsibility to promote the auction? Or the buyers responsibility to find them? There was a recent proto/DT/EP auction that happened in America for example that was NOT referenced at all on RS until it had taken place and all items were sold..yet all it was over FB and SWF. I'm not saying that outing the really big auctions that are well advertised is right or wrong (as most people tend to know about them) but there are definitely things to think about when any upcoming auction is linked or discussed on a public forum and I for one think it's better if they are linked afterwards (unless everyone and their dog already knows, by which time it's pointless to try and pretend they aren't happening).

Annoyingly, more often than not when an auction is actually outed, the link is dropped in for discussion by someone who probably wasn't even going to bid (lol) so I can see why it frustrates those that were aware of it and also patiently waiting to bid themselves.

As much as I believe people should get what an item is worth, sometimes these things get a lot of outside help (sometimes accidentally) which results in collectors losing out on the "bargains" we all hunt and hope for and I think it's only fair that those who put in the time and effort to hunt stuff down get a chance at it first.

Meh go to Invaluble search Star Wars and I found it, not exactly hard to find and I expected this to come up sooner rather than later too much goodness for it not to! :D

PS: I'm kind of indifferent to all of the auctions being listed + discussed these days as I've not bought anything in a long time and I'm not looking to buy so I don't give them much thought when I see the threads. I'm sure it pisses other people off though, quite a few people who are still buying after all.
