Thought you guys might get a kick out of this, SWF got a mention too:

In 2005, SWFUK started as a place for UK and international collectors to gather and discuss the hobby. Up until this point, the hobby had been centered almost entirely in US based forums which served a mostly North America based collector. SWF was one of the first forums to see the worldwide nature of the hobby and the demand for a place for international discussion. It also allowed its members much greater leeway in regards to language than the other forums at the time, and it grew in prominence thanks to surreptitious advertisements in eBay auctions.

Yeah that is a good read. I never liked the Usenet format. By the mid 90s I was active on Texas A&M (which later became Tf.net and The Datapad which evolved into jedinet and the galactic senate. I left them all after TPM came out due to the backlash and arguments that followed. I still have an account on them but I just checked and haven't posted for close to 10 years lol.
Wish I found this place earlier.

No mention of Imperial Outpost, now long gone but predates SWFUK and was the only real non US alternative to RS for a while

Interesting read nonetheless

Nice article but another UK forum site has been missed that even predates IOP..

Gadders.com was going way back in 1998/9 before it got hacked twice and Adam gave up.

A fair few members here haunted that forum back in the day.

Also, the ebay discussion group star wars collectors cantina became a forum in its own right, before closing after the forum owner was involved
in a scandal involving edd's stolen collection.

vintage star wars action figures was the first facebook group for vintage star wars action figure collectors, and I created it several years before
the multitude that followed after facebook groups were revamaped a few years ago.

http://www.lichtgeschwindigkeit.de is a german collectors forum

http://www.starwarsspanishstuff.info/foro is spanish collectors forum

Are there any freanch or dutch forums?

Also, Joe's forum on trilogo.info

:)

The star wars collectors cantina seems to be a site about caravans now:-

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the article! :) Yeah, it was designed to be a brief history, not a comprehensive guide, which meant that a lot of really great places for discussion didn't get mentioned, even a few that I really loved. I was trying to keep it concise enough to be easy to follow, rather than detailing everything. That said, if there are any sites you guys feel should be on the list, I'd be happy to include them in the next update.

Thanks for the kind words about the blog! A lot of work has been going on behind the scenes on that for a while, so it's good to know its appreciated. :)

I quite enjoyed my brief stay at SWCC before the scandal (and the caravans)

I wonder if SWFUK will one day be a site for sheds or some other random thing
