Anyone in the publishing industry?

I need a little advice and was wondering if anyone on the forum works within the publishing industry? I need a little general advice if there is?

Nothing really, just a couple of pointers I need, I'm looking to see if I can publish something, but it's like anything else, there are thousands of willing web
Set ups, but I just want some basic advice to start with, and don't want to be taken for a walk I've held back on a few pieces for years, mainly through being self deprecating, but as they say...if you don't throw your hat in the ring :wink:
