On Facebook today I stumbled upon a link to an article entitled "The 20 TV-Spin offs that never caught on" and at number #14 was "The Lone Gunmen"... an X-files spin off show all about these guys:
Now, I was an X-Files fan as a kid/teen and I remember these guys appearing in quite a few episodes helping Mulder etc but really? They got their own series? LOL
I was so intrigued I actually went and watched this documentary lol:

TBH, even though it seemed like they had fun filming it I can't quite get my head around them doing a full series based around these 3 guys..yet they did!
Odd (and rather weird) fact about this series is that in the pilot they manage to stop a plane hijacked by terrorists from flying into the world trade center, just months before it actually happened
Did anyone watch this when it was on? Was it a US only kind of deal?

Wikipedia said:One retrospectively relevant aspect of this pilot episode is that the airliner has been hijacked (via remote control of the plane's autopilot) and, by the end, both Byers and his father have boarded the plane to try to stop the hijacking. Through the aid of the other Gunmen, they are able to regain control of the plane and just miss crashing into the World Trade Center with the airliner. This, of course, was before the actual September 11 attacks against the World Trade Center later that year. Similar to theories posited about the events of 9/11, the episode's plot indicates that the hijacking was committed as an act of voracity by a greedy American arms manufacturer to ultimately increase its weapons sales by invoking U.S. retaliation against a scapegoated anti-American extremist dictator
