I'm staying in London next Friday. Going to the England game but god knows where we are staying i just gave a mate the wonga and he's sorted it all. Then onto Telford the nex day. There is a guy with a stall on a market near me every week but his stuff is also overpriced ripped **** with yellowing on the yellowing! PS what's the vintage shop in Scarboro called?

Hey Chris :) I have never been myself but I have heard from a similar thread on TIG - that it is situated close to Windsor Castle - http://www.metropolistoys.co.uk/

Not sure if its the right link Liam as this place is in warwick. Looks good though.

Snoopers Paradise is sometimes worth a browse. Toytoni sometimes has a few nice moc's in there. I always try to make a visit if Im down in Brighton.

That place in Warwick looks quite good, might go this weekend as only 20 miles from me as live in the far north of Gloucestershire. Will let you all know what it's like. Thanks for the info Liam although you thought it was in Windsor  Makes a change for something like this to be near to me as I live in an area with no major towns within a 20 mile radius!

has anyone picked up anything good in london recently?

living in london all my life and collecting vintage star wars since i was a toddler there really has'nt been that many places to pick stuff up from but anyways here's my experiences.

camden market (david)
he's been there for years and always has the same stuff in bad damp condition and very overpriced! and yet i still visit to have a look out of interest, he was always very moody and would ask what i was looking for but once we started chatting he's quite a nice bloke, he well knows his stuff is overpriced but the tourists pay him enough to tick over. i visited a few weeks ago and he had most run of the mill loose figures complete between £10 and £25, luke stormtooper £65, max reebo band £30, jabba playset boxed £50, imperial troop transporter boxed £70 so yeah very overpriced.

oribital comics (leicester square)
this comic shop has plenty of loose vintage toys mostly transformers, thundercats, he-man, ghostbusters, wwf wrestlers. they also had a handfull of loose figures and a boxed rebo band that was £90. theres another room that has tons of 90s-2012 star wars stuff aswell.

mimi fifi (notting hill gate)
another overpriced collectables shop with mostly new stock with a shoe box of vintage star wars figures £17.50 for a complete gamorrean guard to give you an idea, they also had an emporers guard carded that was open to offers but i reckon they want £100 for that.

not much else in central london.

retrobloke at alfies antiques market (edgware road) (gone)
i can remember walking past this place every other sunday around 1990-93 to visit my nan and as it was a sunday his stall was always closed but i could see so much vintage stuff and figures he had for sale that i wanted and i even remember him having a yak face in the window, years later when i was 16 i went back to this place with some pocket money and finally met the man that ran this stall i seem to recall buying a loose complete greedo for £9 but by then most of the stuff i was after was very expensive £95 for a loose yak face and that was 1998! this blokes stall was also on the news, i dont know if anyone remembers but michael jackson came over to do a concert and he visited retrobloke and bought a complete loose set of planet of the apes figures off him. i dont know what happened but the stall is no longer there and when i asked the people in alfies nobody knew??

just out of london

modellers loft (caterham) (gone)
a great place this was, i only got to visit just before xmas 2008 and 2009, not too expensive but most figures did have repro weapons, i bought a loose landspeeder for £12 and the staff would always knock money off when buying in bulk, i wish i had gone more now.

model shop (chesham) still there.
this place has loads of loose figures most are without weapons and theres very little last 17 or ships, he also sell records, worth a look if you have the time.

snoopers paradise (brighton) still there.
i could spend ages walking around this place, its a huge place full of retro collectables also plenty of loose and carded figures worth a look.
