Any places to pick up vintage SW in London?

Hey Chris :) I have never been myself but I have heard from a similar thread on TIG - that it is situated close to Windsor Castle - http://www.metropolistoys.co.uk/

One in Bournemouth called Modellers Loft http://www.modellersloft.co.uk/ I think they sell vintage SW.
There's also a shop called All The Cool Stuff (Hampshire) that sells Star Wars toys but i don't know if they sell vintage.
I seem to remember there's also one in Brighton that has a few vintage figures at sky high prices but i can't remember what it's called.

Hey Gorneesh! I visited that area 4 years ago and can vividly remeber visiting a shop which had loads of SW. At the front of the shock it sold records and at the back SCIFI Collectables. I am 90% sure it was in Poole or it could have been in Weymouth. The shop itself didnt have a name. I would love to know if ts still there :)

You could of been thinking of Nostalgia in Brewers Quay Weymouth, sold a few comics old toys in general and loads of other random stuff, went in there a few times but to me the prices were a little high for what he had, last time I went he was not there anymore.

Not sure if its the right link Liam as this place is in warwick. Looks good though.

Snoopers Paradise is sometimes worth a browse. Toytoni sometimes has a few nice moc's in there. I always try to make a visit if Im down in Brighton.

No worries Liam. In some respects Im glad its not in Windsor. If it was in Windsor and I didnt know about it Id be more concerned!

There used to be one down the road from Windsor in Egham called the Twilight Zone but that's going back a long time now.

Adrian Cordrey still sells a few bit in his shop in the top floor of the Peacocks Centre in Woking but there really isnt much unfortunately.

It would be great to open a toy shop. I guess the probem is that a shop is a large overhead and youd need to sell alot of toys each month. Maybe renting space in an antique/ vintage shop would be a better idea??

I suppose it depends on your location as to how you would run that business and how much it might cost. It would be possible to sell vintage toys and make enough to sustain that kind of business. In my opinion. But it would, in my mind, have to be a shop that sells many different types of vintage toys and collectables and for that you'd need to know about many different types of toys and collectables and i mean really know, or you'll lose money fast.
It would probably have to be scenario where your shop sells something it is possibly more well known for that vintage toys. comic for example, movie memorabilia. Selling those kind of things will never be too much of a struggle and will generate enough income to support the highs and lows and unpredictabilities of a vintage market.
That guy in Camden sells utter **** and obviously puts no effort in to his business whatsoever. Every time i see it i think, '**** me i could quadruple his turnover with ease!' and he makes enough to pay for his rent on that booth in Camden market, week in week out, some of the most sought after market real estate in london.
I'm sure there are many many other factors to consider when starting up a business like this that i haven't yet considered but i'm just saying in theory it could work.

Yeah the shop in Caterham was a serious loss. I haven't been down to the Bournemouth shop but I still see the owner at the odd toy fair.

Yeah, I go to windsor nearly every weekend and was wondering where it could be. I use to love going to the twilight zone in Egham, David Oliver owned it, he use to open it only when he felt like it though as many times I would pop down and it would be shut but a great shop, i like egham as old fashioned like windsor.

Indeed Lee. Fond memories for me too. There was also a shop in shepperton called the toy box that sold vintage. It was owned by a guy called Simon. I used to go there every week with my mum and brothers to buy one vintage figure! Is get it home and put it in my pine display case. This is going back sixteen years or so. Those were great days starting off! He sold me my first carded figure. A tri logo prune face. I thought it was the nuts. So much so that I blue tacked it to my wall. (Shudder)

Pete's right, the guy in Camden Market has loads of stuff but most of it is overpriced and average condition. He said when I spoke to him that he has better stuff not on show for serious collectors which I told him I was. Let's just say he didn't produce, came up with loads of excuses.

I think there is also a shop on a road near potabello road market, had loads of stuff down in the basement.

I was just about to post this same thread! I'll be in London in Nov and was wondering about markets etc. I'll check Camden out. If anyone is in Newcastle there is a shop in the Grainger Market which has mainly modern but some vintage. Not great though.

This guys stalls pretty neat. Used to deliver post to the market when i worked in Camden and would be always have a quick nose at his stall. Some stuff a bit pricey and you have to really twist his arm to get the good MOC's out but great place all the same. Seeing that makes me want to go down there again, havent been for ages.

Coming down on a Coach trip trip to Buckingham Palace. Never been mate. Looking forward to it actually :D an overnight stay then some free time around London itself and then coming back mate :)

London is beautiful if you visit the right places. Bucking Palace is cool but you'll only get about 10 minutes out of it. My advice would be to walk up the mall from there to Trafalgar Square and then from there head down to Embankment bridge where you pass Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Cross the river and you be next to the London Eye. Then walk along the river past the national theatre all the way till you get to london bridge. Some awesome pubs round there to settle at. The Old Thameside Inn is a must. Best pub to sit by the river in london.
Oh and steer clear of Oxford Street and Soho.
