I've started a little focus on loose Jawa's and collected a few nice cloak variants.
Does anyone know much about the different colour stitching variants?

There's the obvious green stitch variant, however I've seen white and purple??
Are these genuine??

Cheers

I have been a "full-time" jawa collector for roughly seven years. Though I do not focus on loose figures, I have seen the following stitch variants:

brown (found MOC)
dark orange (almost rust) (found MOC)
black (found MOC)
white
purple
green
pink

Hope this helps..

would you call these different colour threads on the jawa capes a "variant" or just simply a factory finish? where the sewing machinists just grabbed what ever colour was next to their machines?

White must have been rare then Gustie...as I have owned dozens of Jawas and that was the first white threaded cape I found..That is why I thought it might have been homemade.

You could repair it with a little dark brown thread.

Interesting perspective.. Personally, I would call them a variation. Since jawas were produced in different factories, I would understand the machinists using whatever thread was available at the time.

Thinking about this thread a little more, I really wonder which cardback's would have the pink or white thread. Looking over my carded jawas, I have one with dark purple thread. I am fairly sure a green stitch would be seen on either Meccano or another foreign cardback.
