Your fantastic legal system has just decided that BP should have to pay out for ANY claim made relating to the Macondo disaster. I don't, for a second, want to belittle what happened there, it was awful and those people who lost their lives and those who had their livelihoods damaged deserve full compensation.
But the Courts have decided that ANYONE who applies for compensation must be "assumed to have suffered a loss"!

There are examples of people hundreds and hundreds of miles away from it getting compensation when their business had it most profitable year the year of the disaster. Obviously it's only BP who are liable for all of this not Haliburton who were responsible for putting in the safety device designed to specially stop this exact blow out happening. Still, not as if Haliburton has a powerful Ex Vice President on the Board................ohhh, wait!
