out of interest have afa issued a statement or done anything about the toytoni scandal?
i mean after all, this is also a big embarassement on there part for grading fakes dont you think?
its bad enough having toytoni figures still in circulation but also even worse having graded ones out there?
Chad allowed a RS member to post their initial response 6 months ago on the RS toy toni thread.
That was that Toy Toni was banned from submitting to AFA and that AFA would not grade further affected figure/card combos.
He also said that they were looking at marking the Tonis they have already graded in their database with another get-out-of-jail
type disclaimer if you looked up the serial numbers for verification.
Since then AFA have said on the phone to other collectors that they will not be doing anything until the legal case has been resolved.
There is not going to be a legal case so they are using this as an excuse now not to act further and admit that they
have graded 1000s of Tonis, as it would be/is very damaging for them.
That's my take on the situation.
A lot of collectors see the toy toni disclaimer, then see the AFA grade and figure it must be good because AFA graded it, right?
AFA should be offering a free regrading/recasing service on these at the very least.
