Advice needed...on huge starwars lot

There are a few hidden gems in there - and I bet the headless Yak would still sell for about 30GBP - but as the guys have said - there is a lot of garbage too - depends on what you want them for - if it is to build a collection then I would say that there will be little of 'collector' grade in there - but if it is to turn a profit then you will make money from a 100-150 outlay

Cheers guys the collector in me is hoping for a hidden gem! there are a few in there and she has another 3 boxes of stuff which i don't know whats in.
I said to her I wasn't sure of what the value was and id like to come and see it all - haven't heard back from last night.

I have a feeling she maybe has some sentimental value to it and thought it was going to be worth hundreds - if it had been all vintage boxes of stuff it would have been worth thousands. I guess the modern age of people may have over the top expectations when things are starwars!

Ill update you with what happens and if i do get a chance to get it what there is!

Yes that's the problem with all this half-arsed journalism of late, anybody who finds a capeless and sabreless Vader in their toy box thinks they're sitting on a gold mine.

Agree, doesn't look half as good as it sounded! I thought it was a "collection". It's not really is it. You can't even see what's in that box, could be something valuable in there or it could be full of beaters and damaged incomplete ****. I would only make an offer if I could see it in person and look through it all.

I guess you only need a couple of weapons and maybe yak's head sitting in the bottom of the box to make it worth something - but its a gamble.

It looks more like a kid's abused toybox than a collection to me.

To be fair its still impossible to say as non of the photos show all the boxed toys mentioned in the original post but good luck to you, looks like you've got Paploo in there as well so could be more last 17.

Think I'd be asking myself why I wanted to buy them. If it's all for your own collection then that's easy but it's gonna be a lot effort to sell 95%++of that stuff I'd have thought and you're really just buying yourself work (love that phrase) for little reward.

Again thanks guys - I'm still waiting in hearing back from her I think she may of been unhappy with my assessment of £150-£200 from the photos (last night).

I suspect she prob trying to get a second opinion, wait and see, I'm not going to make any decision to I physically see anything, if I hear back from her!

Exactly this. It's not worth the effort for the return you'll get and if you sell everything you don't want as one lot you could even lose out :|

Not sure that box on the floor is going to happen....she's still buggering about. I'll leave it a couple of days to see if she finally gets back to me!

I'd love to see a photo of that box finally emptied out on the floor 8)

Yeh you never know. I wouldn't stress about this sale. Offer £100. If you don't win then hey ho! Shifting that modern stuff just wouldn't be worth the effort for me ...that's if you can sell it at all. Best bet would be down the car boot sale. Just put a sign up advertising Vintage Star Wars 'Get it Here!' - punters will loose their minds because, of course, all Star Wars is worth a fortune

If this topic ever needed a example of media hype making joe public think starwars figures are all worth ££££

Just thought id post a little update - I tried getting back in contact with the lady in question and she's gone over to the dark side - never heard from her since, I think she just wanted a valuation, rude but she could of just asked for one!...some people are very annoying!

However I have some potentially exciting news - I have been in telephone contact with someone who has a vast collection of vintage toys, his whole house is full of boxed toys and his mums attic is full of boxed toys. He's whittling down his collection as he has so much - by his own admition he needs therapy for hoarding. He has lots of doubles of things including nearly all the han solo MOC's with doubles from starwars to ROTJ. All vintage vehicles boxed (apart from death star)....I am awaiting a email of pic's which once i get shall post a few on here. He is a collector and I think by talking to him he wants his toys to go to a collector rather than a dealer. He doeskin want to use ebay as of hassle and fees.

I don't want to F-up this negotiation so how would you guys play it? - he knows values but he's old school and thinks prices have gone ridiculous. He said to me once I see the pictures make him a offer and we will take it from there.

I haven't seen the toys yet so this could all technically be bullshi* but I spoke to him for over 30 minutes on the phone and he knows his **** and he seems genuine so fingers crossed.

To be honest mate if he wants to keep stuff in the hands of collectors just direct him here, he'll get fair prices and the outcome he wants

Smells like a modern collection to me. These days anyone who has a vast collection of vintage would know the channels to go through to get rid of it at a decent profit.

Id love to direct him to the forum, but Id like a nose first - no apologies for that!

Def not a modern collection - all pre-dating 1984!
