Added Scenes in the original trilogy

Forgive me if this has been discussed before...

On the back of the 'recent films watched' thread I got to thinking. I watched the original 3 the other weekend and have to say the added scenes and bettered effect won me over. When I first saw them in the cinema many moons ago on their re release, I thought they were a touch too far. But in hindsight I gotta say I really enjoyed most of what they chose to add in and embelish.

Your thoughts?

I can live with some of them. Han should still shoot first, Luke shouldn`t scream and the rebo band should have been left alone.

I'm a firm believer that less can be more. I think a lot of the additions were put in just to make it easier to understand for stupid people. A good example is the Wampa, you really didn't need to see it eating a dead animal. In fact not seeing it in it's full glory in the original made it much scarier.

I also really hate the different Jedi ending music - the original was one of my favourite pieces from the whole trilogy.

When the special editions first came out I liked most of the scenes. I think I was just overly happy to finally see the original trilogy at the cinema. I hope we get that chance again.

I agree with the scenes Edd mentioned and the Han and Greedo scene. One little thing that bugged me too was the changing of the line "You're lucky you don't taste very good" to "You were lucky to get out of there" in ESB. I always found the first line quite funny and with the new line that is gone.

:lol: Maybe I've seen the movies too many times then. It is when they first land on Dagobah and R2 get swallowed and then spit out. Luke says it to R2 when he is piking him up off the ground.

I know the scenes you are talking about, but I don't remember them being changed.

I don't like the new rebo band scene

Greedo should not shoot at all

I like the new scenes at the end of Jedi, but not the music.

and don't even start me on Anakin at the end of ROTJ :evil:

Okay here is a site that lists the changes. It explains it down in the audio changes. They even have audio samples, so here is the old line and here is the new line

on the dvd release they changed boba fetts voice to the fella thats in the prequels that ruined it for me and putting hayden chrisitian in jedi. if aint broke dont fix it!
