A long time collector Newbie UKG question.

A quickie..

If i submit an item to be graded...do i have to point out the variations/minute details?
If i don't mention the variation......would they even discover/look for it?
Has anyone had a surprise when graded item came back?

They should notice and grade according as that's what you're paying them for

My advice would be.
If there's anything specific you want on the label to mention it,
If you have a variant item to mention that too,no one is infallible so it's better to give as much info as possible,helping them to get it right first time makes much more sense than having to send an item back to be re-done .
