A little mould experiment

Just tried to do what I could for a figure that came my way a little while back, soon as I got it alarm bell's started ringing as it had the dreaded mould spotting on it, something I have up till now only read about, I was so shocked I instantly isolated it in a sealed air tight container for fear of cross contaminating any of my figures, I could not bring myself to throw it away though with it being a vintage & a stormie at that, so after a week or 2 in the jar on the windowsill in what little sun we have & no improvement (hey it was worth a go) I decided that its trash so no harm in a little experiment, so I did the peroxide treatment to it (thanks imperial nut for the mixture ;) ) & after 3 days on the windowsill it looks a lot better with the active cell's of the mould looking to be dead, I have never used the bleach treatment on a figure b4 but it has also done wonders for making him a bit whiter as well, so an added bonus :D I took him out of the jar 2 days ago (10/02/12) & he has since been in a warm humid environment (ideal fugal cells culture environment) & has shown no signs of new growth, its early days I know, but I plan to keep him well away from my other figures & keep a check on him, I will update this thread every now & then to show if there has been any change, say once a month for 24 months, that should be enough to know if this has actually killed the mould or just postponed the inevitable.

I have also marked the figure so I know he will never get mixed with mine or my sons collection.

Great thread Frank, I also have some stormie that look like that.

I hope you can heal it so we all can learn to heal the stormies we have :D

Make sure you keep them isolated Pomse as I presume it can easily be spread with it being a mould - spores are air borne, & bear in mind that this is only a last resort & I would NOT recommend doing this with any figure unless its got the mould as god only knows what the long term knock on effects may be from bleaching the plastics, but better to try than to thrown the figure away, only time will tell though.

Bit late with an update I know, but here it is, time goes far to quickly init, I will do my best to remember to keep this updated.

Just going to add a photo to the OP with date rather than down here so you can see the comparison easily.
