Is there a thread on here or a link to a website anywhere which details what to look out for when buying MOC's ? Eg ways to spot fakes and reseals etc, or is getting an AFA/UKG one the only way to guarantee one's not been messed with ?

Thanks

The best way is through experience.

There could be lots of different things that make it fake or reseal.

The best thing to do is save a picture of it and post it in this forum.

There are loads of people that will give you advice.

Get your hands dirty first , buy a couple of beater MOC's and a cardback or two with the seal still on off forum and get a feel for a real moc before dropping any serious money, especially on flea bay.

Sound advice there :D

The great thing about this forum is that there are always folk ready, willing and able to offer their years of experience. You'll always find someone who can help.
The comments above however are bang on.

Thanks for the replies, i'm not new to collecting, early 80's as just toys etc then serious collecting in the early 90's

Never really was into MOC's then though so didn't tend to analyse them much, plus back then it didn't seem quite as serious as it is now, don't think we used terms like COO, MOC etc : )

Anyone remember the small model shop in Egham that used to sell vintage stuff, used to go there every week

Also the Bentalls Centre in Kingston had a place that sold them
