Ok..so these are doing my head in because it seems not every POTF2 figure had the same releases around the world.

I was talking to a friend and he said you have to break it down like this for the majority:

• US
• Canada
• Europe
• Japan

I'm pretty sure I've got a US and a Canadian, just found a Japanese import too but is there a European? I've never seen a "Trilogo" version with three logos but I have spotted a few of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Star-Wars-8D8-/221585145039?pt=UK_ToysGames_ActionFigures_ActionFigures_JN&hash=item339780fccf&nma=true&si=AXP4oFT1E5pbY2LaXIvzCO3CnIU%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

So is that considered a Euro/UK release? (And what's the paperwork inside the bubble, behind the figure?)

8D8 wasn't released on a European card. The one in the photo looks like a Canadian one to me (which is the one I had).
While the US was getting the Freeze Frames, Europe and the UK got the LPC cards of which there are 9 (8D8 isn't one of them). A lot of the US/Jap/Canada ones were imported and an EC sticker stuck on the back so i think Hasbro Europe just gave up doing their own cardback. They missed so many figures people found it easier just finding the imports - Darth with Rem. Helmet, Lak Sivrak, Chewie Boushhs Bounty, Luke with Blaster Helmet etc etc

Thanks Strat!

I guess they must have decided to use the Canadian cards to release Euro figures they couldn't be arsed to do a new card for and then stuck some multi language instructions/information sheets in (I guess that's what that paperwork is!) as a cheap alternative.

I suppose that variation is the closest to a Euro variant I'll get.

Thanks again Strat, makes a lot of sense now!

Yep, you're right its just the Canadaian English/French instruction leaflet for 8D8's branding device.

I collected all the POTF2 European cardbacks at the time but when I realised they were cherry picking from the US line I had to end up getting the import cards to fill the gaps. I did have a run of all the Trilogo's and LPC cards and I've got a soft spot for them cos they rejuvinated the SW collector in me (I was a student at the time!).
The last 9 are pretty nice looking Monologo cards also called Long Photo/Picture Cards. They had different card photos than the US ones and some are hard to find now as they produced a lot less and were released in continental Europe. :)

Those are some of my favorite releases and the last hurrah for unique European packaging.

Joe, if you go for sticker variants, US and Canadian releases did see distribution into the UK from MBC. The only difference is the white Chorleywood import address sticker that is on the cardback/ bubble.

I don't know how far focus collectors go with it ;)

Oh bloody hell Dave! You make an appearance once in a blue moon and it's only ever to give people more headaches!

Too far? There is no such thing as too far!! (But now I hate you for giving me more things to find)

(PS: Didn't we talk about a POTF2 Trilogo feature?? When you get a chance we should talk about that again!)

Awesome, looking forward to it! Can I pretend I wrote it all and not give you any credit whatsoever? Kthxbye!

(Only joking, It'd be a David Tree special with a picture and everything! Gotta make up for all those stolen articles and half inched research somehow!!)

I remember buying Japanese imports with the Chorleywood sticker too. Japanese cards were effectively a big sticker over the bottom of a US card, the imports had that but with the EC import sticker on top as well! The Japanese C-3PO had a green tinge variation and I remember picking it up at a pound store with said stickers.

Dave - yeah they're my favourite cards too from back then. I got a couple graded cos they display really nice :)

Haven't looked for anything POTF2 for a while now and thought I would check to see what had sold in completed listings, wish I hadn't bothered now
