Well this is it, the big weekend; Marathon and Farthest From!!
Yesterday i had an interesting day. I went to pinewood studios for a cheeky photograph and Lucasfilm/Pinewood blew my cocks off with a lovely sign they had made for the cause! It appears that Kathleen Kennedy had to approve it and wishes the Make A Wish Stormtrooper luck
I then had to register at the London Excel where i sneaked a quick photo with Dame Kelly Holmes.
On the way home i got kicked off 2 Tubes, actually ejected! As apparently Charity isn't something the British Transport Police like.
Picture the scene, there i am on the tube in the costume, with a bucket (containing my official Make A Wish collector letter) and a make a wish sign. Two BT Police come up to me on the tube and start asking me questions. They then ask me to get off the tube to answer a few questions. I tell them that "i'm not actively collecting or begging, if someone drops a quid in my bucket there is nothing i can do about it". They ask me for ID so i get out my RAF ID card. They then say "OK you can get on, but you can't collect anything", #jobsworthfeckers. But the crazy thing is all the way through this i had my hemet on throughout!! :lol:
I then had to change train line a few stops later, when i got on the Central Line the PA system sparked into life "Um would the man in the costume who has just got on collecting for charity please get off, charity collecting is not allowed on any public transport, this train isn't going anywhere until you get off". I got off. Put my bucket in my bag and waited for the next train. Whilst waiting some jobsworth **** could see my bucket through my sealed transparent London Marathon kit bag and started asking me what i was doing and giving me a hard time, like collecting for charity was the biggest crime in the world. I understand that there are some unscrupulous people out there but: I was in full stormtrooper costume, i had the official (participant only) kit bag, a letter attached to my bucket and i wasn't actively shaking it, i must have given about 50 selfies. I'm pretty sure everyone knew that i was the real deal.
All in all an extremely odd but generally really cool day. I've never been kicked off a train before, so to get kicked off two was pretty funny. All the way through this i had my helmet on which just makes me piss myself laughing.

If there is a regulation, why was i allowed to travel all the way across London to the Excel without being challenged.
Why do BT Police allow someone they are questioning continue to wear a helmet? What was the point of the ID check? I could have been anyone.
Who was the other platform jobsworth who just jumped on the bandwagon?
All in all a bit silly and demonstrates a lack of consistency, common sense, charity and understanding. Well done BT.

Piss on all the jobsworth muppets. "Computer says no" can kick in with plod and it sounds like that was a big case of it. As for not having to remove your helmet (boring lesson alert): it's because they had no power to without there a) being a Section 60 authority in effect in that part of London, b) because you weren't being subjected to a Section 1 PACE search and, c) because you were not being detained or searched for reason under the Terrorism Act. These three being the only three reasons (that I recall) that a copper can ask you to remove any face coverings. Told you they were boring

Jez stopped and posed for a snap just before crossing Tower Bridge, I popped the pic on his Facebook page. Expect he'll be sharing a selection of images in due course. Amazing work by an amazing guy for an amazing cause.. bit gushy but totally true.
It was (as it is every year) a massive privilege to be roadside supporting the efforts of the many that raise cash to help so many more. I totally recommend going to support any big city marathon to anyone.

Ha ha the train story is dead funny. Respect for keeping the helmet on. Would have loved to have seen it. Lucasfilm thing is brilliant. Really good of them. Well done man!!
Hey guys, sorry for my absence recently but i've been kinda side tracked!
Well i did it, i managed to complete the marathon in 5hrs 00 minutes and 26 seconds.
Some might think "Oh Jez are you pissed off it wasn't sub 5hrs?"
Not on your life. I think i couldn't have done it or enjoyed it any differently. I was supported by so many amazing people, Stephen, Chris, My Family, friends from work, extended family that i had to stop to say hi and pose for photos. That was part of the fun.
Drinking was an absolute motherf##ker, i couldn't drink whilst running so i had to stop every so often and ask a nearby lady if she'd mind holding my hemet whilst i had a drink. I was massively worried about cramping out as i've been carrying a muscle injury for a month, but i managed to hang on.
All in all a fabulous experience, a combination of joy and pain throughout. I've woken up today with fresh legs but my chest, shoulders and back feel like i've gone the distance with Tyson and i've been sat on by an elephant. The armour really took it out of my upper torso.
But none of that is important. Together, between you, me and my extended friends and family, plus other random strangers from around the world we are now just £300 shy of raising £5K, 5 f##kin K!

However, my thoughts are with young Captain Dave Seath RIP, and his partner and family. It happened just in front of me. Not nice.
Death can come to any of us at any time. Hold those close to you and make a difference today. Tomorrow might be too late.
