WTF  I don't understand the big deal on these  There seems to b a hell of a lot of them around so not rare and not that old but obviously V popular indeed :!:

Ha! I remember at my local Cheshunt fair a fair few years ago now a dealer had a few of them for sale mint book shop condition and he sold his last two of the day for £25 each. Another dealer tried to snap up both copies but my mate managed to get one and I suppose at that price I should have taken the other one but wasn't interested at the time.

That sad thing jk when he published and after all the hard work he put into these found hard to shift and sold to retailers at reduced prices so he could recoup money.....sad for him really.

On the plus side there is 2nd edition coming out. Though years after it being anounced with no updates the wheels are in motion as some big name collectors are helping jk get this second edition written updated as jk has been unwell i believe, so i read on rs.

How about this then, recently ended.

A second edition? For definite?
I want one of these but I'm not paying daft money so I'll wait. watch prices plummet if a second one does come out.

Does an electronic pdf of this book exist? I have never owned a copy but would like to see the contents before forking out for one (although with these prices that is now unlikely).

Don't know if the contents are viewable as a pdf, but when I sold my copy in 2009 I took several photos which give you an idea of what to expect. Sure, it's a great book, but I wouldn't pay more than £60 for it.
As others say, no information inside you can't find online, prices obviously way out of date, and Kenner only - if you want Palitoy or any other non Kenner items you're out of luck.
That said, there's lots of photos obviously and if you can find it for a decent price go for it. Anyway, check out these blurry random photos I took:

You know, Im after one of these books but I dont even know why :?

I have it ingrained in me that I'm not a true collector unless I have the Kellerman book. I have lots of other Star Wars collecting books (Tomart etc) but I really want/need this one

Why ?

all the information is available on the forums and internet, it is a great reference book but you dont need to spend £350 :)

I do still think it's the best all round book out there on this sort of thing and look through mine often. I know everything's online but it's just nice to have it all together in a physical format. Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I still like to have books up on shelves and this one was put together really professionally with good image prints on good quality paper stock.

Is it worth all that money though? Not really (unless you have money to burn), although I'm glad I picked one up on it's release and would also probably feel a little like I would have to have one if I didn't. I'm sure one will come along at a more reasonable price at some point though (especially if the new edition ever gets released!).

The 2nd Edition has been talked about over the last 4 years plus! My personal feeling is that it wont get released! John K has had heath issues and some people even said he was dying?! I dont know if thats true or not but since 90% of all SW material is easily found on the internet I dont see it as a good investment to release a 2nd edition since the first one went as bad as it did when it was released!

Alto many people say they will buy it and whatnot, its a slim market! The first one can still be found for as low as 150$, you just need some patience!

With all the above said, IF there was a 2nd Ed ever released, it would be great :)

I think with the way the first one sells now, if a second edition comes out it will shift. It will be purchased by people with the first edition to enable them to retire their valuable first edition and by other people who won't pay silly money for the first edition and still want the book.

Just my opinion and if the second edition ever arrives.

I'm pretty sure they would sell out quickly as people will end up buying several copies thinking they'll go up in value like edition one. I'd definitely pick one up as it would essentially be the same book as the first but with more content.......although maybe it wouldn't be hardback this time which would mean I'd still have to keep hold of the first edition.

let's hope this second edition does see the light of day at some point but i don't think I'll be hold my breath for it's arrival. Also what ever happened to that other mammoth vintage book? Was it Saga or something?
