    Vangelis RIP

Another genius gone. Blade Runner was an iconic soundtrack. Loved his collaboration with Jon Anderson as well. RIP

Thanks mate. Got back into drawing during lockdown after many years and really enjoyed the process. Hopefully keep it going.

Here's my tribute piece to the late, great Carrie Fisher. Watercolour underpainting, with coloured pencil shading and detailing. White gouache for highlights.

Any thoughts on who this figure is?

It's a bit reminiscent of a Shogun figure. The cheapo design looks like something you'd get out of a Kinder Surprise or a cereal free gift.

    Please identify my....um....Pink Sword

Wow, thank you Stubbs. Bang on with the Captain Scarlet ID. After a quick Google, it looks like an Electron Gun from a 1993 Vivid Imaginations figure. Couldn't find anything regarding the Dick Tracy pistol. One down anyway :D

    Please identify my....um....Pink Sword

No, it's not porn..... This group of oddities turned up in a job lot of vintage Action Man. Don't really want to chuck them before IDing them. Any ideas on what they are??? The only makers mark I can see, is an IDEAL logo on the hammer. The satchels/holster could be Lone Ranger I suppose. The...

Some great work on display in this thread. Love it. I've been trying my hand at digital painting. Here are a couple of my efforts... The first one is quite an old effort. Probably will change the background to a painted version of the Palitoy Death Star. Painted in Photoshop from photo...

What characters in films or television influenced you as a young person?

Roj Blake Tucker Jenkins Bodie & Doyle Indiana Jones Buck Rogers Luke & Han Ah yes, good old Debbie. Up there with Electric Blue videos and 'hedge porn' as quintessential 70s/80s filth. None of this modern 'shaven haven' malarkey. 'Full bush' all the way.

    Dunkirk IMAX Screening

Yeah, from what I can gather, the Spits had only 15 or so seconds worth of ammo available. Short bursts only. I was an anti-aircraft gunner in the Royal Navy and we were taught to fire in 1-2 second bursts. Firstly to conserve ammo and secondly for better accuracy. I've refused to watch U571...

    Celebration 2019

I'd be all over that, if it was Florida. Would make a great 50th birthday prezzie to myself :D

Apart from the Star Wars Trilogy what were your three most favourite childhood films

Loved those Ray Harryhausen stop-motion movies as a kid. Valley of Gwangi was another favourite. Dinosaurs and cowboys. Brilliant :D

Apart from the Star Wars Trilogy what were your three most favourite childhood films

Yes, I'm an old twat. Thanks for the reminder :D Definitely remember watching Risky Business, The Thing and The Keep on home video in the early to mid 80s (still at secondary school then). Vivid memory of the Alien TV premiere, which I think was around '82. Watched it on my own and literally...

    Dunkirk IMAX Screening

Apologies for the "pompous" comment. Glad you didn't take offence. Wow. What a family revelation. If you find out any more info, please let us know. I find these wartime stories incredibly inspirational and emotional. Truly the 'greatest generation'. Your story reminds me of my Mum...

    Dunkirk IMAX Screening

Went for a second viewing yesterday at a 'normal' screening. Although it lost a bit of the impact of the IMAX screening, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Whilst I respect your opinion, "average" is the last thing this film can be described as. Yes, it has it's flaws and some of the reviews...

    Dunkirk IMAX Screening

Completely agree, no film is perfect and I have similar nitpicks. Not sure if this was intentional or not, but I found the dialogue barely audible at times. Nolan is famous for his dislike of CGI, but you would have thought they could have added more background troops and debris (abandoned...

    Dunkirk IMAX Screening

You must see it at the cinema. Biggest screen possible. Preferably IMAX. Don't go in expecting a traditional war movie. It's told in a non-linear fashion, with minimal dialogue. Some have not liked this approach and found it confusing. I loved it. Very tense.

    Dunkirk IMAX Screening

Finally saw Dunkirk in IMAX yesterday and wondered what people's reactions were. Personally, I found it stunning. There's been some criticism of lack of character back story etc., but it didn't effect my enjoyment of the film. The cinematography and sound were on a different level......and...

Carrie's mum, Debbie Reynolds, just passed away

Feel so sorry for Carrie's daughter, Billie. To lose your mother and grandmother in the space of a few days, is unbelievably cruel. RIP

    Carrie Fisher has passed away!

Was really hoping that no news was good news. Unfortunately, not to be. Close to tears :( Wonderful childhood memories of this fantastic lady. RIP Carrie.
