Does anyone know anything about this Harbert VCJ?

ok, that was painless. I am using the camera on this tablet so if they turn out badly I will have another go if people tell me what I need to focus on.
Oh, and hello BTW, apologies for being rude.
Sorry if this disappoints you but that’s 100% fake. The punch is a euro punch which never came on the original cards. And that doesn’t even begin to touch on the hilarity of the so-called seal. I hope you didn’t pay a lot for it.

Jeremy.

not at all, I suspected that it was fake but needed confirmation if I was going to sell it on I need to be honest.
I was kind of hoping that the figure may have been original and the rest mocked up to increase resale but, if I can sell it for £20 as is, then I am okay with that.
Thank you for your assistance, I really appreciate you.

You’re welcome. Sadly, when it comes to VCJ‘s, fakes abound. The jawa figure will probably be real, but the cape and gun won’t be. Unless of course they’re simply transplanted from the modern retro collection onto a fake vintage cardback. How long have you had it?

I bought it at a boot sale recently so I have zero provenance. Although it was in a case the price alerted me to the idea it was fake. Unfortunately there are so many sites detailing ways to tell if it is fake and none of them are definitive so I had to ask.
I hoped that it might be an original jawa at least, as the cloak fits so tight under the arm and the blaster is a bluey grey colour rather than black. I saw that on a youtube video but I always seek corroboration and, I am not generally that lucky lol. It also looked a lot like the one originally questioned in this thread.
I know someone that might offer me £20 if it is all mocked up, just to fill an unaffordable gap in his collection, but I imagine it would be worth more for an original vinyl jawa?
Thanks for your assistance.

If it was an original, it would be worth many thousands of pounds (carded, of course. And literally nobody would recard a genuine loose VCJ on a crappy fake cardback). However, yours sadly is not an original. I’m not being funny, but even without seeing the photos the chances of finding an original one at a boot sale are about the same as finding a Faberge egg inside a box of half a dozen large free range from Tesco.

If you’ve got a buyer for £20, then take their money and run :)

Clearer close-up pics of the actual figure will give us a much better idea as to what elements could be original Vintage. As Jeremy has already said, chances of an original cloak and gun are very, very unlikely.

to be fair, I was taking a chance on it as I know a friend that collects figures and I thought he might take it. He has taken it for the aforementioned sum, whether out of pity, or to amuse himself, I don't know.
He said that it looks like the Kenner vintage figure issued in 2010 to him.
as for finding a Faberge egg in a carton of Tesco's eggs... Why not? People are weird and stranger things have happened. There are few things where the odds are absolutely zero.
I trawl boot sales as a hobby and I find some real bargains at times. I learn a little every time too so that's a win by itself.
In this case, I took a tiny gamble and didn't lose, although the win was more learning than money.
So, I go out looking filled with optimism, I meet people and make friends. Sounds good to me.
I shall also be looking at egg cartons in Tesco now too... Never zero!
Thanks again for the assist, I appreciate you all.

I applaud your attitude. Being positive is great. Just to clarify, I hope you didn’t think I was mocking you, as that was not my intention. The Fabergé comparison was an attempt to convey just how unlikely it is to stumble across a genuine Harbert carded VCJ in stunning condition at a boot fair from a seller that did not know what it was. Technically it’s possible, but in reality you’re probably more likely to win the Euromillions jackpot. Twice.

not offended, I assure you. I am too old to be precious about things and I am not above being sarcastic and mocking if the situation warrants it, ( and even when it doesn't ).
Anyway, to use the Faberge analogy, have you heard of his botanical studies? They are flowers made of precious minerals and such and are incredibly rare and valuable. They have been featured on bargain hunt and the antiques roadshow. The ones on bargain hunt were discovered in a charity shop, wrapped in a towel, and brought about a third of a million at auction.
I know deep inside that it won't be me to be able to retire on such a find but I'm not really busy with anything else.

P.S. I don't play the lottery lol.
