Which Trilogo's are the most difficult to get

Interesting question!

I have a near full set of trilogos and have been collecting for about 10 years now.

The ones that I have found the hardest to find (not inc madine and Fett) are -

White Bespin Guard
Cloud Car Pilot
Leia Original

Most are relatively easy to find in any condition, but HTF in C9 AFA85+ condition.

The ones I have found HTF in C9 condition are-

Teebo
Bib Fortuna
Chief Chirpa
Gamorrean Guard
Amanaman
Sand People
Red Snaggletooth
WBG
BBG
Luke Gunner
Leia boussh

Hope that helps,

Gary

Why should they cut me a deal when there are rakes of people out there with the cash and desire to pay stupid money for them. Just stick the thing on ebay for £700 and wait for a bite.

I can't see anyone offering this particular MOC to me for a fair price anytime soon, and why should they?

You are quite right and that's another downside to people recklessly* spending on Vintage.

In the past, "mates rates" were far more common amongst friends because most people were collecting for themselves and not buying to flip. I'm sure we all feel good about giving a friend a deal when we know the piece isn't going to be up on eBay for 2 or 3 times what we sold it for but nowadays with prices how they are, a seller can't really afford to sell at yesterdays prices, even to friends.

*The reason I say recklessly is because when prices started to go berserk and I was trying my best to work out exactly why..something I thought up was "what if people are using credit cards + loans to purchase things?" (because I couldn't see where the money was coming from all of a sudden).

We saw a possible credit card overspend here: http://starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=25665#p347033 & yesterday I noticed a few people discussing balance transfers to avoid interest on FB..

You have to wonder if it's not all fuelled by investors, speculators and people just going nuts with credit cards when you see todays prices. Dangerous game if you ask me.

All it means is that SW will be more and more linked to the global economy. Get saving for the next downturn and scoop up all of the over spent collections for pennies in the pound ;)

In seriousness, buying on credit can work. If its a one-off or something you're unlikely to see again - but you HAVE to have a strategy for paying it off, and not just seeing it as a monthly expense. I've bought on credit, but only really as a temporary measure - if it means paying much in the way of interest, its not a cashflow issue, it a not being able to really afford it issue.

Wow. That's really worrying.

It is isn't it? Who knows if it's true but when people are shelling out thousands each month for pristine AFA graded 12backs and whatever else you can't help but wonder where the cash is coming from.

The only reason the credit card thing popped into my head actually was because prices went from normal to insane in a really short space of time and people don't turn into millionaires overnight do they? I don't doubt there are rich collectors out there but surely not everyone can afford to keep up with the prices of late.

TBH, up till recently, most people collected steadily and with a good head on their shoulders (hunting out bargains, taking their time etc) Sure, everyone splurged a few times a year..maybe taking the odd payment plan out for a big ticket item that they really wanted but they certainly didn't pump the kind of money into the hobby that we are seeing these days.

I wonder if the next big credit crisis will be down to the new wave of credit card using Star Wars collectors

Cheap credit is coming back to certain people so I assume the latest rush is the combination of people speculating with these new found funds, it will be interesting to see if it is sustainable or not. Personally I hope there is a crash and we get back to having a nice circulation.

Are we only talking moc or also cardbacks or both ?

I think Jawa and Madine are the most difficult to find even as a cardback.

I have had a few yak face cardbacks so for me they were not that difficult to find.

The rarity of Trilogo cardbacks usually reflect their rarity when carded quite well. I would say the only exception is Madine, which is far easier to find carded than it is as a used cardback (if you can afford to buy one that is).

How come Joe? Have many of them come from a few cases? Have any/many showed up with price stickers?

I don't think he was a very good seller tbh Max, so even though most haven't actually come from case finds, they probably still never sat on a shop shelf or went anywhere near a price gun.

There was one reported case discovery referenced on RS years ago but I haven't been able to confirm if it actually happened or not.

I'm not sure if I'm right but I heard that Madine was only released as a trilogo in France and so particularly rare, mostly commonly on a double stem bubble which broke quite easily. Didn't they find a couple last year in a loft find? No idea what a Madine is worth but can't be more than 30 in the World from what I've read.

I'm intrigued to know how many collectors on this forum or trilogo.info own a Madine or a Jawa or a Boba Fett or all and also how they acquired them. Recently, not recently, secondary market or from a toy shop ? I'll put my hand up to a Boba Fett which I acquired way back in 88 from a toy shop in the Algarve. I would wrestle with the thought of parting with the sort of money I would have to part with for one of the others.

That sounds correct, I think I have seen more moc for sale than cardbacks of madine  If I remember correct then I think I have never seen a madine cardback for sale

i saw a repaired one on ebay it sold for just over a hundred gbp it was a few years ago now. not seen any since

I've seen loads of Boba Fetts for sale over the years, I'm just not prepared to pay over a grand for one because it's not that are. Same for most Fett MOCs, prices are grossly inflated because of the character, not its rarity. I would say I've had at least 10 opportunities to buy one over the years. He has also turned up in several UK finds, so was not just a locally distributed figure like Madine was.
