a bit of a grail arrived today - an offerless 79 back Han Hoth, complete with creases, pen, and bubble cracked in the post

despite all that I'm very happy as these are pretty much an Australian only issue and a real rarity - if I hadn't sold off my offerless Han Hoths I'd have a full Kenner run now

No problem :)

Nice Han Hoth just like the one I had as a kid. I said the other day how I would like a Jedi Han Hoth MOC.

Interesting about the blaster, mine came with a Bespin blaster and was a 65 back.

Had this sweet little bundle arrive this morning from Iain. Big thanks for sorting out the China figure from the US.
ESB 41 back MOC, two mint complete Hong Kong variants and a hard to find Made in China figure with ROTJ cardback... :D

Lando skiff, Blond luke farmboy, Trilogo greedo, white haired ben, ree yees (i have no idea how i didnt own one of these) and orange and brown snake yodas.

The yodas can replace my childhood one who's had a hard life, here they are carrying him off to his retirement

I was planning on show casing all my completed figures but Prune Face, clearly pissed off he had to make do with an actual gun, decided to show John Matrix how its done

Big thanks to Iain and Neil for sorting out the stash, weight for weight, i think the weapons are the most expensive thing ive ever bought that you cant smoke!

Not exactly a new acquisition, more a re-acquisition. Since moving house I'm still finding stuff in boxes, bits and bobs I forgot I had picked up years ago or had been given by people who know I'm a Star Wars fan.

Check out what I found:-

The John Menzies poster from '83 - bit dog eared and tatty but it will look awesome in a poster frame! Pride of place in the Man Cave. Unfortunately I have to decorate the rest of the house before I can get to creating my SW zone but this bad boy will be there!

Strat, that is awesome!!!

Yet another item I never knew existed. That's what I love about collecting this stuff, just when you think you've seen it all...

A large chunk of my SW toys came from John Menzies as a child. I can still see it now - they had a very cool toy department back then. I got my Dengar from there, Jabba the Hutt playset, Luke Jedi...ages spent looking through the racks of figures. I'll have to find one of these now!

Had loads of new additions just recently, here's one that's on the same lines, a Palitoy leaflet given away at a local cinema for early showings of ROTJ. On the back are the details of a local toy shop.

Nice leaflet, I noticed that one on ebay the other day and thought it wouldn't last long. Notice anything similar about the speeder bike illustration and the one in the John Menzies poster?

Talking of that Menzies poster I'm pretty sure I've also got that one. I know there was one up on my sisters old bedroom wall that my Dad put up there for his grandchildren a few years back. It was an old one of mine although I've no idea where I picked it up from. I did make sure to put it away somewhere though so I'll have to dig it out and see what it is at some points.

Great picks guys! :D

Theres a whole article on that prototype Speeder Bike at theswca:-

I miss Menzies as much as Woolworths from the High St. :(
They sold off the retail chain to WHSmith in the late 90's while keeping their distribution chain. They still exist and have a turnover of millions. I still see Menzies vans driving all over the place. They probably got out the retail game at the right time before the internet and big supermarkets started destroying the High St.

The Menzies/Woolworths I miss are shops from a different time, they couldn't survive in this day and age. At Xmas time I remember the local Menzies letting a 2nd shop purely to fill it with toys! Just wouldn't happen now. Like loads of people on here it was a SW toy mecca back in the day. :)
