I am a new collector and am loving the hobby - I didn't realise how much I would enjoy it but I have to say it's bloody amazing

I have just read all the posts on U-grades and am disgusted. How could a community such as this and so called experts in the field allow this to happen - it's a crime and they should be locked up - just taking it off the card should result in treason and the death sentence

They ran out of relgious temples to decapitate statues of icons so the moved on to Star Wars.

I just recently found out what a U Grade is & I have to agree it's really ****ed up that so called collectors would do this. Even if the moc is beat to hell, cut, cracked, or with a gaping hole in the bubble it should never be opened!!!!!!!!!! Very soon mocs will become extinct! Very sad.
 
I have a very beat up Imp Dignitary and would never remove him from his card - I wont put him in ebay either as I'm sure thats is what would happen to him! (or it could be her! - looks pretty camp) :lol:

Return of the Dramatic Chipmunk!!!!!!

Despite being against U grading I have no issues opening a dodgy old card for the toy inside to be played with (as was originally intended). For me there is a big difference in doing this than having it sent away for U grading. You also have to consider numbers and rarity too.

I wonder what others think. Is opening a battered old card to play with acceptable compared to U grading or is it just hypocritical (maybe just selfish) for me to think this considering my views on U grading?
