So they currently have the release date exactly 1 year from now..... how's everyone feeling about this one ?

I've enjoyed the series, admitedly Season 3 didn't reach the level of the first 2 seasons but I'm hopeful for the film. Interested to see how they can elevate it up to a feature film, hopefully it won't just be like watching a condensed Season 4 but on the big screen - thoughts ? 🤔

I have to say - my hopes are neither high nor low, by which I mean - I think it will be a fun, mostly light, enjoyable watch, but much like the show it comes from somewhat forgettable and probably not worth a second trip to the big screen to re-watch, but happy enough to watch again on D+ literally a few months later, that is to say I think we are in for an enjoyable extended episode of the TV show, rather than a full blown movie event. I don't see it being the unicorn hit that Disney are hoping for, but it'll probably do decent numbers.

That said, I am looking forward to watching it, I enjoyed Mando S1&2 (S3 was a mess) but I also hope this is the end of the line for these characters, as I struggle to see what else they have to say.

I'm looking forward to it, have enjoyed the series and like Cazza can't wait to see a SW film again on the big screen.

I really enjoyed the series when it felt like a side plot. It was really interesting to follow a character who was heavily impacted by the main galactic events but wasn't a part of them. This is one of the (many) reasons I just couldn't finish season three, not even out of malice, I just wasn't interested in how it ended. It's a real shame because there are a lot of talented people who worked on it, but it just didn't come together in the end. The movie feels a bit too much like a cash grab to me. I've really enjoyed a lot of Filoni's work, and the clone wars was a big part of my childhood, but I definitely think he draws things out for too long. For example, Ahsoka should have died in Rebels and Din didn't need to get involved in wider Mandalorian politics or not as much anyway. I just don't really see a need for the film. Their story has been wrapped up with a bow from what I can tell.

Though I will admit, I am interested in how the first order comes about and how the story gets to where we see it in TFA. I've been listening to the original Thrawn books in the gym and really enjoying how they explore the squabbling of turning a rebellion into a government. With Thrawn being introduced in Ahsoka (which i also havn't finished - I'll get around to it eventually) I think it could be quite an interesting story if they lean into those elements. Irrationally, I'm still hoping to see Eli Vanto pop up somewhere.

Looks fun, but not entirely convinced. Only a teaser, though. Looking forward to the full trailer. The one at Celebration was better.

Watched it a few times now and still a little mixed.
Overall the trailer doesn't have the same impact as say EP1 did back in 1999 - but it is a teaser, so lets see - I think part of that is the score - it just isn't JW....
There looks to be some cool moments here - the AT-AT sequence looks new and fun and Sigourney Weaver is amazing in everything so big plus there. I get Grogu is in the title so he'll do a lot more lifting this time around - but too much and it becomes a bit marketing led again - so that balance will need to be watched.
Overall this could be fun - I will watch it day 1, but it could become just an 'extended' D+ episode - especially if the FX isn't up to scratch.

The Ep1 trailer hit hard back in the day (still does today to be fair)

Trailers are like cigarettes - they're bad for you, give them up  I stopped watching trailers years ago, they spoil the film for me. Often they're portray a better film than what you actually get or they put a different idea of what the film is going to be like in your head so you arrive with misconceptions, can't be doing with that ! 🙈

When I saw a scene of him fighting inside an AT AT, I pretty much thought I was going to enjoy the film. Liked the trailer, so really looking forward to it!

I'm looking forward to going back to the cinema to see some Star Wars again. I'm glad Disney seems to have held off on their Marvel Universe-esque trajectory these past few years… call me old fashioned (at 56 years old!), but to me Star Wars should be an occasion to look forward to when there's a cinematic release… once every few years is good enough for me!

Indeed. Star Wars back in the cinema is certainly a thing to look forward to so I'm glad we have that right now. I think this is a time for Disney to stop and take a deep breath and look back at what has worked and what hasn't.... I'm not even talking from a financial success level either (but it's debatable how you even measure that in the streaming world) I'm talking about what successfully fits in to the Star Wars world. I think Rogue One, Andor, The Mandalorian work because they take place in what feels like a genuine Star Wars setting and pay respect to the lore laid out before them. This is what Disney needs to focus on and I believe it comes from screenplay writers, directors, cinematographers and producers who genuinely care about the original stories and that's why it works, not some agenda pushing "I want to stand out and reinvent the Star Wars franchise" nonsense that at times it has felt has been served up. Anyway..... I really hope the Mandalorian film serves up a great big slice of Star Wars back in the cinema that we all deserve and Disney is turning a corner and starts to focus on the Star Wars that we all love and know.
