I don't think I've shared this before. I never had the toys (I was all about Games Workshop by the time they came out) but I've great memories of watching the film with my mum and sister at the Theatre One in Coventry
These came out way after my toy playing time was up but I loved seeing the film in the cinema and picked up a lot of loose ones for my boy when he was young. I was impressed with how well they were sculpted and can see the appeal although they look even better on the card :)

I've loved trawling through this thread. I collect literally all kinds of things, but somethings are just too damn expensive to own many of, not to mention the space they take up!!

Another great addition to your collection Mike and it must be great to finally complete this one. I know Super7 were crowd funding a larger one of these this year (never did check to see if they managed it), but to have an original in box is much better in my opinion.

Lovely Thunder Tank mate, I'm still reeling from selling my childhood one boxed at a car boot in 1999 for £5! Gragrats on completing yours.

just need a Monkian and Jackalman moc now to be where I want to be with this collection TBF it's the only outside SW that I really like, love the sculpts of the figs, and the artwork on Mocs and boxed

once I complete I'll get a pic up of the run

this collecting lark gets worse as you get older! Some blokes go porche 911 but my crisis is plastic toys… there's no sense to this at all ! Ha ha

I was trying to get a Lion-O last week, a MOC went high hundreds and a reseal went over a hundred. I never realised they were worth that much

Me and the lad have a Lion o that we were going to go to eBay shortly with , card bubble and figure
drop me a pm if you are interested I'll send you some pics, have a Panthro as well card bubble and figure, also a Mumm Ra, tray and bubble ( no card with that) also a box only for Thundertank ……they are daft money these Thundercats!

Some additions coming to the Thundercats run, my lad has been busy and we are looking to pick some nice additions up this week will post up when have them, Sword of Omens, Wily Kit/Wily Kat and others will get a group shot up when sorted

Ha ha Thundercats Ho!

like a pig in muck this afternoon

TBF the lad has Shelled out here, but these are a run he remebers as a kid in the 80 s and it brings back some super memories for me buying the Thundercats for him at that time.
the sword was purchased for him back then by my best friend at the time who I have lost touch with for over 25 years and it's made me reach out to him
weird how toys can have such an effect on your life it's way more than the toys themselves, it's about that snapshot in time , that's what collecting is about, not the intrinsic value, but the intangible value it has, me and the lad were talking today " do you remember when you got the sword, do yo remember we got the Tygra from zodiac toy shop when you were about 4 years old" magical stuff! The connection I get with my lad goes way past toys, and what's great is we are doing the same thing with his lad, my grandson , who is 4 now, it's just brilliant!
this is what collecting is all about for me, it's def not … wow this is rare and worth a shedload of cash, it's more a snapshot of time for me and my lad and how that now translates into today with my 4 year old grandson, collecting is a way of having a reference point in time in your life
sorry for the soppy sentiment, but this is absolutely what collecting is about for me !

Here's the story so far

just Monkian and Jackalman to complete the 8 back run

basically looking to amass the original 8 back collection from the pictures on the back of the 8 back release

the sword is the Benelux release ( so is the Cheetara moc)

the mix of Mocs and vehicles/ships are LJN, Benelux other factory, distributor releases but all 100 % original

loving the research on these items it's the different releases different factories, Otto Simon, Benelux , LJN, Hong Kong etc the research on the run is an added extra

enjoy !

Great to see some more pictures Mike and that sword really is a stunner! I'm the same as you with enjoying the research on these vintage toys, it's a massive part of collecting for me and I've certainly picked up a lot of knowledge (some might say useless lol!), over the years. It seems like there are always variants with these toys but going for the first 8 is a great idea and goal to have.

Almost there Mike and lovely to see.

Ian

Yes the Sword of Omens is in really good order ( still lights up as well!)

on this release there is no artwork on the reverse either

agree Ian, once you go down the research route ( only dipping your toe in) it's really interesting all the different releases and distributors, factories, not unlike the SW collecting background.

need to tidy a couple of the boxes for display, but all the ships/ vehicles have the instructions as well. The Nose Diver is unused with inserts and stickers as well

ordering some cases once I've measured up, then the Jackalman and Monkian Moc s to finish off the run.

love the artwork and the Logo on these as well.

That's another amazing addition Mike, those boxes are huge but look the biz on display.

Ian

Thanks all, just taking a better look at I think this is the earlier 83 box they call the "spirit" box the lad has picked this up Just now, need to have a closer look at it.The play set is in really good condition it looks new, all the part s are present and the instructions. The box is in fairly good nick
like you say the box art is really cool on these MOTU boxes

ill set the play set up at some point maybe this weekend and put a pic up

My random collection of figures, either have a connection to SW or could blend into SW diorama
