I have a few criticisms that I'd like to see addressed.

Firstly the venue ..it was too far from my house

Second the weather was poor, please make sure when booking next time you pick a day that will not be raining.

Third after just coming back from Celebration I was expecting to see a Slave Leia costume pageant, and while I did see one lady that looked like she had been tied up for a few years this was just not good enough.

Finally the poor quality of products on the stalls, I walked round for a good few hours and didn't see one Star Wars Bend-em :(.... Although in hindsight I guess I could have missed them and they got quickly snapped up before I got there!

Thanks
Darren

Right, snow, bend ems and Gary in a gold bikini for the next one then :)

Hmmmmmmmmm flocked bend ems?.....

Great to meet so many SW-FUKers (it's catching on!) as well as meeting some new people. Also what a joy to see so much vintage in one place for sale - a real throw back to the 'good old days' when small locals shows/sales used to be the norm.

Jez, Ian (Huge thanks to Ian for giving my daughter her first MOC Princess Leia!), James, Grant, Matt, Darren, Graham, Lee, Gary and of course our illustrious organising hero Dave - good to meet you all (and others who I've mistakenly omitted from the list) - here's hoping we can do it all again soon.

Recommendation - vintage auction next time perhaps? Also, considering the age we are all reaching some visitors (& dealers) have children so if there was something focused for the kids it might encourage more people to come as a family.

Regards,
Christian

Meeting fellow collectors and talking shop was one of the highlights of going for me (after the Palitoy presentation obviously). I tend to find my focus's are quite narrow these days so it's hard for me to pick up anything to buy at an event like this. I did get a copy of Coining a Galaxy from jedi news which was a great read on the train home.

Just what's been said on what could be better.

Location, I know a lot of people were put off by how far it was from the nearest train station, so somewhere more accessible would be good.

Food, some bacon sarnies would have been a god send. Cake was lovely!

Would love to see some more of these collector panel type presentations.

:)

cheers Jason

Dave, what a great day, thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I'm glad I decided to make the detour on my way home from holiday  It was pure coincidence I promise. Seeing all the vintage items on display and speaking to some of the members has really re-ignited my passion for the hobby. I thought the display was excellent but unfortunately I couldn't stick around as long as I would have liked, so I missed the talks etc. I would like to echo the sentiments of everybody in congratulating and thanking you and everybody else involved for all your hard work. I very much look forward to the next one. By the way I think your shop is fantastic.

Cheers

Anthony

Auction is possible, but items need to be stumped up for it to happen, but it's certainly gives some good thoughts for it :)

Location is always going to be an issue, no matter where it is held. With the other shows I've learn't you can't please everyone all the time.
The pro's with where it is held is down to two things,
a) convenience for me in set up/ planning etc, a few good hours are put into it ahead of the show, and the easier it is from organisational perspective, the easier it is to pull off
b) cost

Food is a valid one, the baker was approached in hiring the kitchen in return for contribution towards costs, but at last minute pulled out due to resource, so one of the team hastily set up tea/ coffee etc, but that would have made things a lot easier for some, especially with the rain :)

Is there any chance I can see the presentation file? I would love to see it. :)

Sadly I won't be putting up the individual files, I was more than happy for folk to take pictures of the presentation/ film it, but access directly to the content won't be available at this point. A lot of time, effort and energy has gone into the research over the last 6 years which tie into a couple of projects beyond those that have been done already and I would not wish to take anything away from their impact for when they're ready :)

Yeah- big up for the forum, without it this wouldn't have happened. 😉
Amen.

An amazing read before Farthest From this weekend.

The forum was on fire then and the place to be.

This thread planted the seed and completely changed my life.

Made friends that I still meet today and talk to most days. Some of which we did Star Wars projects together. Traveled the world with some to conventions.

There's been Presentations, collecting tracks, red carpet film premieres, movie set visits, charity projects, scandals, some unfortunate fall outs, hilarity and a **** ton of vintage star wars, Sambucca and beer.

A star wars life of payment plans and empty pockets.

Incredible memories.

But it was the face to face friendships that started here turned out to be the true holy grail.

And a raise of the glass to those we have lost on the way.

Dave Tree made a post about and event he was going to put on. And all that history is now Farthest From.

What a wonderful post Grant.

Forum was such a great place back then. Jez has talked me into trying to be active this morning on here and seeing some of these memories does bring back warm fuzzy feelings. Great days, but some of those friendships are central to my life now, all stems from this forum. Wonderful photos mate. Look forward to seeing you today.
