It seems almost surreal reading that interview. He started collecting at exactly the right time and in exactly the right place. Absolutely gobsmacked.

Been reading this since yesterday. Usually I would skim through these things, but really, this piece is riveting 8)

Many who started collecting in the late 80's or early 90's will relate to some of it. I don't find the prices mind blowing but the scale and effort going into buying is impressive, plus collecting in the US must have been a completely different beast back then to how it was in the UK.

The shop stock was there for the taking up until the mid 90's but I have no idea about availability of UK production gems. At the time the idea was in the back of my mind to go on the hunt, but where to start? Lacked imagination I guess :roll:
