just found this thread after listening to the pod cast - great work!

Here's a group shot of the different leg colours (IMO), all Hong Kong COO with moulded on the left and POCH on the right

LooseHKHanHoths2_zps1c310b08.jpg

the photo below shows the Euro 'PBP' pale and pink face variants on the right, and an example of a mix match legs on the left

pbpHansandHK2tone.jpg

a non-sonic welded one may be of use to you too - HK brown legs

Nonsonicwelded.jpg

Love the 31 back you sold - did you know it was a moulded legs too? As a final point the six sided buckle is the first release but also seen on PBP/POCH, and moulded legs all have these buckles (as do some painted).

Keep up the good work

Hi mate,

Fantastic update. Thanks for the input and the great pictures. Really appreciate it :D

No, I didn't realise that the 31 back was a moulded leg figure :?
Did you get that at the time?

No problem, and no I already have one but if I'd seen yours I would have bid

to be fair - I'm only 90% certain. Do you have a close up pic? Here's mine

Not all 31 backs are moulded leg- IMO only smooth punch /speed hump is

I've not seen a perforated punch version or smooth punch semi circle hang tab as moulded legs.

You can see the long thumb (therefore large copyright) in this 'semi circle hang tab' version

31a-ungraded-front.jpg

so at least two factories producing the first 10 ESB figures from their debut.

I wasn't aware of the punch differences James - I usually go by the footer

Non-moulded legs can also be found on the folded footer, which muddies the water. However, I've never seen a moulded legs on a flat footer so I agree there are two factories producing the 31 backs, and I'd hazard a guess that the folded footer factory produced moulded legs first before going to the painted ones. All 31 back Hans should have the heavy eye paint and six sided buckle

Off to check my reference pics for tab differences now :)

now I'm confused - Jeff's pics on the first page both have the same punch (I think) but different footers. The footer and punch on the second one match my moulded legs, but it could still be painted legs.

No problem Lars. I'll try for close ups some time in the next two weeks when I'm on leave, but in the meantime the blaster colours should be clear from these pics although there doesn't seem a lot of variation

Can't seem to find any pictures of the 31 back card I owned. Will keep digging....

I did come across this figure I once had. I remember getting excited at the time thinking with the Brown legs it might be a 'poch'....turns out it wasn't :(

I'd have said that one is a Palitoy brown leg Jeff - also found on Kaybee two packs, which shows that non-Kenner sources supplied some of those figures

Edd sold me this many moons ago

ack%20Sqid%20Head%20Han%20Hoth%20front_zpsccuncvnr.jpg

edit: but the six sided belt buckle and heavy eye paint make me think it is a POCH too but lighter brown than normal.

Why do you say its not POCH?

  because that's what I was told at the time...i looked for advice. I actually think i was told it was a Palitoy. It's funny, I always thought it was a POCH but said 'hey, what do I know' at least it was sold on here..!

I'm no variant specialist but the brown leg Pal Han has a 5 sided belt and light eyes

The POCHs and early Kenners both would fit - what does Wolff say?
