Hello All.
I can ask for some advice from you top guys on here on a Lando cape. At the weekend I picked up some really nice vintage figs at my local boot sale. After some bartering I managed to snag about 8 figs in really good condition for about £2.50 each. On lando was the normal grey cape 1980 lfl hk on the left leg.
This made me look at the lando bought at an early 90's boot sale, my only other one, I noticed the cape , pictured below was dark blue and just thought someone had just cut out some vinyl years ago as its not the best shape going :) see picture. It was then, that before consigning it to the bin, thought I'd better check to make sure its was not some variant, as I don't know a lot about this area. A quick search lead me to the http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t4191-lando-s-vinyl-capes
The cape on here looks very much like this cape but I'm still none the wiser if this is an alternate cape or just some ones handy work many years ago.
This lando has 1980 lfl on the right leg and made in h k on the left,
The vinyl has texture on both sides, one more glossy one dull ?? oh and I may have mixed the Lando's up in all the excitement

Thanks for any advice / help with this sorry best pics I could manage

I have both coloured capes on my loose landos and by the photo you have provided it may be a little too dark. However, the lighting on the camera can make a difference.

Both real cloaks should make a zipping sound when you run you finger nail down them and repro cloaks usually do not. Give it a go. It's quite a pleasant reassuring sound :).

Thanks for the reply Woolyniner, it does make the sound but think its because it does have texture on both sides , but a different texture. The shape just looked a bit off as its shorter than the grey one, but so is the one on the link. What is the story behind the different colour was it a different factory / location, both say Hong Kong ?

Picture of both together if helps

OK, here is the photo of my two loose lando's with different coloured cloaks

They are both bought from reputable buyers and both make the zipping sound. I've also spent too many hours this summer searching ebay for Vintage Lando's ( ) and I'm pretty convinced these are the 2 colours of the 2 cloaks in question.

So unless the camera is making you cloak look darker than it actually is, I would guess it is a repro.

Looking at this picture you can also see clearly that the cloaks are different shapes, and I believe they should be the same shape.

I think this is best link to TIG to use to compare the colours:

Thanks for the photo's Woolyniner, my cape has no rounded ends and different top shape and is a lot darker, as it was baught so long ago and would only have cost under a £1 back then its probably a home made job, but only wanted to make sure when i saw the imp gu link as it looks so dark on there also cheers for the help
