Hi All, thought you'd like to see this.......
I actually turned this up a couple of years ago, but due to an intensive work/family/house renovations couple of years, it's only in the last couple of days I had a chance to dig this out, go through it all and actually realised the magnitude of this lot....
Listening to one of the podcasts the other day, there was some chat about making sure all your mates know you're into star wars just in case... well, this definitely proves that theory...
A mate of mine at work wandered up to my office and had a natter about his father-in -law. Apparently he was into collecting die cast cars, dinky, corgi, etc. but had also picked up other toys during the 70's, 80's and 90's. Now moving to a retirement bungalow, he wanted to get rid of his collection and had sold the cars through an auction house, but had some boxes of star wars toys left. He'd offered them to some auction houses and had sent a couple of grainy pictures, but had gotten back only cursory responses and lowball estimates and offers as they weren't sure of the content or it's worth.
Anyway, my mate knew I was a collector, wanted to know if I could look it over, let them know whether they had anything crazy and possibly buy the whole lot. I had a scan through a few bits he'd brought in, mostly loose, vehicles, a few de-carded figures and odds and sods. So I let him know rough ideas of values, also that the offers he'd had were too low and left it at that. Shortly thereafter, he came back with it all and asked me if I'd like it, we put together a decent offer for his father-in-law and I struck the deal. At the time, this was pretty reasonable without ripping him off at all, so everyone was pleased. I grabbed the boxes, shuffled it all away ...and prices, as we all know, have risen steadily...
So....last night, I got it all out....
I shall let the pictures speak for themselves...
I hasten to add, the loose figures, have never been used, are straight off the cards with all weapons and had been squirrelled away in the 80's from brand new when he was buying these near the end of the runs from bargain bins... They are immaculate...
hold your breath...
.....and hold your breath again....
and also had a de-carded tri-logo jawa... which went straight into one of my cabinets...
I am happy......
