Hi All, thought you'd like to see this.......

I actually turned this up a couple of years ago, but due to an intensive work/family/house renovations couple of years, it's only in the last couple of days I had a chance to dig this out, go through it all and actually realised the magnitude of this lot....

Listening to one of the podcasts the other day, there was some chat about making sure all your mates know you're into star wars just in case... well, this definitely proves that theory...

A mate of mine at work wandered up to my office and had a natter about his father-in -law. Apparently he was into collecting die cast cars, dinky, corgi, etc. but had also picked up other toys during the 70's, 80's and 90's. Now moving to a retirement bungalow, he wanted to get rid of his collection and had sold the cars through an auction house, but had some boxes of star wars toys left. He'd offered them to some auction houses and had sent a couple of grainy pictures, but had gotten back only cursory responses and lowball estimates and offers as they weren't sure of the content or it's worth.
Anyway, my mate knew I was a collector, wanted to know if I could look it over, let them know whether they had anything crazy and possibly buy the whole lot. I had a scan through a few bits he'd brought in, mostly loose, vehicles, a few de-carded figures and odds and sods. So I let him know rough ideas of values, also that the offers he'd had were too low and left it at that. Shortly thereafter, he came back with it all and asked me if I'd like it, we put together a decent offer for his father-in-law and I struck the deal. At the time, this was pretty reasonable without ripping him off at all, so everyone was pleased. I grabbed the boxes, shuffled it all away ...and prices, as we all know, have risen steadily...

So....last night, I got it all out....

I shall let the pictures speak for themselves...

I hasten to add, the loose figures, have never been used, are straight off the cards with all weapons and had been squirrelled away in the 80's from brand new when he was buying these near the end of the runs from bargain bins... They are immaculate...

hold your breath... :) :)

That's quite a treasure horde, particularly the figures and cardbacks, cant believe you sat on it for two years before having a rummage!

ha ha  , yeah, not a repro in sight circa 1984 !! :D

..just wish he'd left the tri-logo jawa and yak on the card..!

and yes, I can't believe the time that's gone by since I grabbed this either !! I run my own business and have also been renovating our family home which we bought a few years ago...so as always, family and business take priority sometimes...

..however, am now starting on converting the old snooker room into a display area and home cinema, so finally digging through stuff and planning things out :D :D :D

Wow, what a super find. I was a bit "meh" at the first two pictures; looked fairly average, but the figures are superb! So great to see a loose figure collection with their original cards. Almost time capsule stuff. So, he kept a bloody Teebo on the card but pulled the Jawa off his Trilogo? Ah, the benefit of 20/20 hindsight! Still a great backing card to have.

Funny what you notice, but I see the ROTJ Bossk has a card footer (looks like). I thought they'd stopped those part of the way through ESB.

yeah.... I was building up the tension with the photos !!... :D The figures are amazing, there's over a hundred loose as well as the carded and ones with original cards. All are tight limbed, with weapons and not a paint rub or mark in sight... pretty remarkable..

Most of the MOC's will go into my collection and any loose that are in better nick than my complete childhood set will be kept as will the Yak and tri-logo jawa.

I have a little dealer table down at farthest from this weekend to try and sell off some of my spares, doubles, etc. I might bring some of the spare loose from this find along for sale, depending on whether I have time to go through and compare to my collection.

Yep, the Bossk has a footer and is minty-mint... proper time capsule this lot was... :D

Very nice - the carded Wicket and the Teebo have probably come from the Ewok Combat playset

Well spotted - there also happen to be a pair of tri-logo Stormtrooper cardbacks in the backgrounds, be interesting to see if they have the fold too.
