Just got back from a trip to Vectis to pick up some lots I won from yesterdays auction (no Star Wars) and was given a lovely tour by John and Kathy. I'd like to thank them for their hospitality and for letting me see so much stuff, they couldn't have been nicer. You would not believe how many toys they actually deal with and the size of the operation, I was extremely impressed with everything.
I have taken a load of pics, apologies if some are a little blurred. These are displayed in the order I saw them in and I will give little snippets above each picture.
First is a box of Star Wars that I was the first to look in, even John hadn't looked in it yet. It was a 3/4 full case, with a mixture of Palitoys, Trilogos and Kenners. There were some lovely items in there including 3 or 4 Tri Yodas and two minty mint Luke Bespin's - case fresh!!
. It was an incredible feeling to open it and peer in. John didn't know that particular box was where it was and said he would probably put the figures in the next sale.
This is a picture of all Beech's toys shop stuff. The picture really doesn't do it justice, there is too much to see! I noticed while walking past a couple more boxes of sealed Speeder bikes and more cases of figures. John is trying to work through a whole row for each sale and will easily fill another 6 or 7 auctions if not more. We could still be seeing auctions connected to the shop well into next year and maybe beyond. I think there is far more Star Wars in there than first thought.
The next lot of pictures are from the upcoming Palitoy sale at the end of the month and there is some incredible stuff to come especially for the high end Palitoy collectors. I think there are going to be a lot of collectors out there nursing broken bank balances and broken marriages!!!
First up is that box of destroyed 30 backs. I would guess about 30-40 pieces in there including 12back Jawas, the rest are 30a's I moved the pieces around to get a different view to the one you have already seen.
The next pictures show some incredible case fresh 12 backs including Chewbacca, Luke, Ben etc and some quality 30backs. Most are from the Palitoy employee but some of the 30 backs are from a different vendor. I did see a few 41 backs in there too, including WBG, HST, Imp Commander and Leia Organa, though her bubble had yellowed. Kathy said the 12 backs are the best she has handled and literally case fresh having come straight out of the case we know so much about. The original owner had opened the cases just before contacting Vectis in the vein hope he had a 30 back Boba Fett! She has recorded what was in there and will let us know once all the sales have gone through.
The following pictures show some high quality boxed vehicles/ships coming up for sale including a first issue Palitoy X-Wing which looked in fabulous condition. Within there are a few sample Kenner boxed vehicles with stickers saying they aren't the finished items and would obviously be packaged in Palitoy logos at a later date. I know they had an Imperial Troop transport like that. The diecast ships were all minty mint. The Death Star was in nice condition but considering it was case fresh it was a little bowed on the edges, but was still gorgeous.
There were a load of fascinating promotional leaflets and sales dockets, ledgers etc. Incredible detail inside adding provenance to all the items. There were also photos in one of the lot that I took the liberty of taking some pics. They show what look to be Palitoy displays from either trade fairs or shops.
A land of the Jawas empty trade box.
