Trip to Vectis 1st May

Amazing photos but can't decide whether they make me happy or sad. I think it's a ****ing shame all this great stuff that some real die-hard collectors would kill for has ended up in the hands of a soulless auction house that with all due respect have no idea about this stuff and are basically learning as they're going along. There's some real history here, it's got to be one of the biggest finds ever, and it doesn't strike me that they care about anything other than squeezing every last penny out of it, eg staggering the sales to maximise profit when we can all see they have dozens of duplicates that if sold consecutively would restore a bit of normality to the market.

I also can't believe all this case-fresh stuff is just being left sitting in mouldy boxes, and they're even putting post it notes on everything! Are they not aware condition is so important to collectors? They should have put all the MOCs in star cases before even removing them from the store. Again just shows a lack of understanding/appreciation.

Thanks for the photos but I think all they do is make me angry that it's all going to end up in the hands of the wankers you see on Facebook.

Yeah..hands off my ****ing xwing!

Love the photos, check out all the Palitoy 12 backs and then the ESB Kenner Yoda, i knew he was hard to get.

I wouldn't mind some of the cardbacks from the water damaged boxes, i doubt i can even afford those.

Thanks so much for posting such vntage loveliness!

A couple more pics I was originally having problems with. Apologies for the Death Star one, gutted about that!

Maldon's just down the road from me - I wonder.....!

Nice.

No doubt the Palitoy version of the death star is an awesome looking piece, but in that condition......... 8)

Anyone care to hazard a guess as to the potential sale price of that mint Death Star? I mean how often do you see one with a half decent box never mind a case fresh one. Gotta be in the high thousands I reckon (unfortunately)

10 grand would be fair IMO, it's far more rare than most oft he high end MOCs in this condition.

Christ, I'm pretty happy to drop some decent money on 'toys' but £10k is obscene IMO - thats £12,400 after fees! The best part if $20,000. Thats cheap Rocket Fett money!

I could see it going for 5k, maybe 6 - but if it gets 10k then I'd be shocked (not to mention well and truly outbid).

£10 grand easily if not more, I think more Palitoy VCJ's have come to light than mint Palitoy Death Stars

I'm only aware of 2 sealed Palitoy DS's, that one in the pic looks like it just came out of the factory.
I would not be at all surprised if it reached £10k plus, it's a really stunning piece.

I think there's probably more prototype Fett's out there than there are mint Death Stars!

I used to have one that came from a Palitoy rep, which makes me even more upset!

Without a doubt - but far more buyers too, and its a completely unique piece (the RF), not 'just' an excellent example of a fairly common one.

Seems I'm in a minority though - so it will be interesting to see what it goes for!

I think we have to remember there are 6 case fresh ones for sale over the next year, so they won't be so rare by the end and there could be a diminishing return.
