I have a very similar find. Its the Kenner mould of the X-wing with battle damaged stickers applied and stamped 1978. There are two notable differences to the example given by MotoXWing287 and examples given above. Firstly, there is no light on the nose cone and secondly the battery cover opens.
The electronics have been removed but they only removed the bottom connectors. The top battery connector is there and the compartment is as clean as a whistle so I can't imagine anything ever having been in there. I would have to take it apart to double check whether there's any wiring inside but I would strongly doubt it.
When you push R2s head down you can see that the clips which hold the wings in are the same blue as the button on the back.
One other quirk of this one is that when I got it there was no cockpit lid so I used a regular clear one and it fits fine.
The catalogue number is 69780 (the same one used for the 1990s POTF2 X-Wings.)
If anyone has any ideas about this that would be amazing.
