I have also seen some guys doing it in spain.

I think this is so bad because if the buyer does not see the postage then they have to pay this big postage.

It should be illegal to do this, normally I ask for a refund if I have paid a lot more in postage than what it costed. But I don't think this seller will give a refund.

I agree Lars

Someone should buy that - seller would not be able to enforce that postage cost - and eBay will not let him charge it if you open up a dispute

Doubt seller will send it tho !!

BIN (wait until Friday though when ebay start adding seller fees to postage as well) then refuse to pay on the grounds that the postage is too high. No way would ebay side with the seller, then he gets stung with £100 in fees.

Previous post written before I saw Iain's :) ... makes me think he's done it this way to avoid fees, but from Friday it won't matter anyway so we probably won't see this kind of thing in future

Ahh of course - I was wondering why a seller would do this doh!

I just sent him a message:

Dear eltom01,

I would like to buy this item but don't like paying postage as its so expensive these days. Can I come to you and pay you the £5 in cash and pick the item up. That way you will get to avoid paypal fees so you will get a bit more off the sale.

Kind regards.

Well they have to fund the " free Shares" for postal workers for the sell off

 nice one - I might do the same  cheers myself up a bit!

This is the type of seller the eBay postage fee rants should be aimed at. Crap like this gives eBay an excuse to charge fees on postage as its easier to sweep the board with fees rather than examine individual sellers postage costs and take action.

Thanks eltom01

I am also wondering what Luke he sold for £500 in his sellers feedback, postage cost was decent on that one. Maybe a dummy auction to get the ball rolling?

I think he has done this to avoid high seller fee's. Think about it. Sell the item at £5, 50p fee. Sell the item at £950, £75 fee. I know ebay supposedly take fee's from postage now as well but I sold something on Sunday and I couldnt see where a fee from the postage was taken. They took the £3 for the item selling at £30 and that was it. Unless its taken thorugh Paypal once thay have paid.

This looks even more dodgy, the item was sold today 24/09 and feedback has already been left by the buyer!!

Is this someone on here? "carnat7" or does the seller maybe have multiple accounts?

Yep - feedback already  come on... JChubb's spot on ebayer's like this are ****ing up an already a potentially dodgy experience for the rest of us
