I only figured out he was a rebel this year by watching ROTJ very carefully. A jarg pirate in Star Wars is how he came across, and as for the weapon...

Agreed. Ewoks, WHAT WAS THE ****ING POINT!?
When I was a playing with them as a kid all they ever did was die, get thrown in Jabba's dungeon, or blown up, straight away. Complete ****ing waste of plastic.

Im quite sure I read some where that the Ewoks replaced Wookies. Lucas thought that cuddly little bears would be more child friendly than a planet of full of Chewies.

Me too, wasn't there a couple of ROTJ end scenarios (if I remember rightly and if what I read was correct)...

1) One death star under construction over Kashyyk, didn't production and effects costs stop this from getting of the ground as well as the kiddy factor?

2) Two Death stars over Coruscant, again special effects and costs stopped this from happening...

This left us with the lil' furry guys, not so great in the long run but great when I was 9 years old

Looking at the prequels and from what I have read from the 'expanded universe' Wookies would have rocked, rolled and kicked arse!!!!

This would have left a problem though, if they were so bad ass then wtf was Chewie doing mincing about in ANH and ESB?

Sure he looked good, had a mean growl and was a good shot with his cross bow. But he was scared of bad smells, a bad loser, bottled out of the battle of Yavin, put things the wrong way round when fixing the Falcon, a sucker for meat traps, no good in the skiff battle over the sarlacc, had a camp looking run and couldn't even 'lock in the auxiliary power' when asked in the Falcon!!!

If Wookies had been in ROTJ they would either have exposed Chewie as a Wookie with 'special needs' or exposed the whole species as a bunch of overgrown scaredy cats. :wink:
