there was a star wars lego ship in argos, called the v 19 torrent. before christmas it was £19.99 now in the sale it is HALF PRICE.... at £24.99
if you read a lot of the small print in the argos sale leaflets there are a lot of " previously on sale at the same price" which just makes a mockery of the whole sale thing for me .

to be fair that lego ship costs £39.99 at our local toy shop, but TRU has had it at half price £19.99 for a couple of months - so Argos isn't far off. But I take your point :)

Lego are notorious for snubbing small traders. They only offer subsidised stock to Argos, TRU and previously Woolworths to allow them to do discounted deals. Tesco have been trying to get in on the deal, but they only offer limited range compared to the others.

You rarely ever see Lego in a sale anywhere else, as Lego never allow for any margin to anyone outside of the those three. Independant dealers have to play the waiting game with their stock, it does sell, but only after the product has been retired and people are still looking for those sets. It sucks though that they have to wait so long to get the money for soemthing they paid for a long way back.
Lego work hard on their image as warm and friendly, but are ruthless when it comes to independant distribution channels as they just can't be bothered with them.

interesting - I generally only buy lego when its in a sale, so I'll miss Wooloies. But it might be time to support my local toy shop' :)

Although, wierdly enough my local toy shop sells Sylvanian Families cheaper than TRU - so I get my daughter's pressies from there rather than TRU.

Any thoughts why they can undercut TRU Dave?

Hehehehehe nah my sister used to colect them when we were kids. Missus was too young to even know what they were! Not seen them on sale here for years and years (not that I've looked mind).

my daughter wants the sylvanian family hotel, a snip at £90

That's the price of a couple of Han Hoths
